They might yet. One game in hand on Dull, win it puts them on the same points total with (probably) a superior GD. Still one game in hand on Norwich, win that one they are just 3 points behind but with (possibly) a superior GD. All to play for, but I'd prefer it of they didn't make it!

Do we think Southampton might just play safe, given the gap between them and Ipswich, and resign themselves to the playoffs? Give players a reasonably easy next three games, the intention being to have fresh legs etc for whoever they face?

Take a few moments to research what it means (I'll save you the trouble, it refers to "The Chief" and as far as Farke is concerned reflects the FACT that he INSISTED in being referred to as manager, not coach).
