    Mr Collins Sacked

That’s the board covering their own backs.

Barnsley Football Club can confirm the departure of Head Coach Neill Collins.

Collins was appointed last summer and despite several positive spells throughout the season, recent results have left the board of directors feeling that a change is needed.

Director of Football Mladen Sormaz said, “Neill has been extremely professional throughout the period with which I have worked with him, he has done everything he can do to push the team in the direction we all want Barnsley to go. He has conducted himself with professionalism and commitment throughout the period I have worked with him. However, with a crucial season conclusion ahead of us, we feel that now is the right time to make a change. We thank the fans for their continued support and urge you all to back the team this Saturday against Northampton. We will update supporters in the coming days."

We would like to thank Neill for his efforts during his time at the Club.

Martin Devaney will step up the interim period.

The timing is a bit strange, unless they’ve got somebody waiting in the wings.

I’m absolutely stunned by that. I know there’s been a fair share of disgruntled fans but the timing is odd, in my opinion.

Definitely pushed, no one in their right mind would resign with one game to go and miss out on compensation , he knows full well that if we fail to make the play offs he would get paid off so there is no way in a million years he is going to walk and not wait 6 days .

He was hopeless tactically notwithstanding the squad he inherited.

It was now or end of season but they need to secure a play off berth and he probably wouldn’t have delivered it.

I’m not unhappy with this outcome
