    Gillespie

We've activated his contract extension for 12 months.

    Quite surprised at this really.

My assumption is he is happy to play 3rd choice behind Pope and whoever is new in.

Him staying, I think guarentess that Dubs is off as well as Karius (which we knew about).

Mark Gillespie GK £10,000 / week.

Best job in football. 4th choice GK for your home town club.

Karius & Dubz will be away. So I guess we'll promote the young lad Reece Byrne (20yrs old) we bought last summer from Ireland & sign a No.2 to compete with Pope for next season. Trafford I've mentioned before from Burnley if/when they go down would be my choice. Decent keeper, will be a reasonable price. We have a great relationship with Burnley.

Will he be permanent No.2? That is the question.

Competition for that No.1 shirt is essential and having Trafford push Pope would be superb for the club.

    True that.

Also, if this season has pointed anything out, it's that our number 2 could well play a lot of games.

Indeed and if we do make the Europa League we are gonna need a 2nd who can maintain the levels across matches.

We've seen the result of Dubz coming back in, his lack of confidence at first and ring rust (boxing term nothing perverted, get ya minds out of the gutter ya beasts! haha) really hurt our already fragile momentum at the time.

C'est le vie, it is what it is. We've moved on, we've regrouped, we've lived and learnt.

Now is the time for us to roar the boys home in the back straight as we race for Europe against clubs with 5-10x our budget and wage bills.

Great to see that we are still punching above our weight.

A nice 3-1 or better win today will sooth the pains of Palace away.
