Your more than likely right he wouldn't welcome a statue, but I'm sure he enjoyed Saturday, but in keeping with the guy his statement as reported in the media is typically modest and too the point.

Going forward yes there is additional income, but additional expenses as well, though looking at Ipswich that on less than £7 million net transfer spend over two seasons are in with a chance of automatic promotion to the premier league, it is clearly possible to assemble a competitive side without spending over the odds.

I expect the approach to be similar and just hope that fans don't start getting restless if next season we are mid table side.

I'm expecting 12th to 18th merely based on what cash is likely to be available and the number of newbies we will be bringing in. Lasts eason we lost £10M. I expect to lose slightly less this season. Next season's income should go up from the £20M of the past 2 seasons to around the £30M mark it was previously in the SBC. Anything better, position-wise, would be a very welcome bonus.

Completely agree. I know there is some excitement about Ipswich’s achievements this season but such spectacular rises are comparatively rare and for every Ipswich there’s a Plymouth who were - this time last year and just imo - a stronger side than we are now, but may still find themselves returning to L1 next weekend.

Having seen a little of the likes of Leicester, Sheffield Utd, Luton, Leeds, Ipswich, WBA, Burnley, Hull, Forest etc…many of whom we will be meeting next season…there’s a huge gap in quality between any of them and the top L1 sides.

Hopefully the ‘King of League One’ and our latest midfield talisman (who I think has been a season changer) will be able to step up and achieve success at a level which has so far eluded them. We have a nucleus of players who have proved able at Championship level but there are going to need to be some very astute signings just to achieve that ‘mid table’ level. Anything else will be a bonus but I’d love to think we’ll be able to avoid the kind of ‘torture’ that Wednesday and Plymouth fans will be experiencing this week…and after the abuse they gave us two seasons ago hope they both survive and Brum are L1 bound.

I think Ipswich took 3 years to escape L1 but didn't have any restrictions to tie their hands. We did it in 2 despite the EFL and thanks to Clowes and Warne for that.
Next season won't be a walk in the park, it will be a grind with survival a successful 1st year back with hopefully the foundations being laid for a push for a top six finish the season after.

You never know but I don't feel there is enough potential I'm the squad to challenge at the moment, I don't see us doing a forest and going Gung ho crazy and buying dozens of players and I hope we dont. I'd rather see 5 or 6 good additions who will make enough difference to give us a platform for each season thereafter.

I would like my Dad to see one more promotion but at 86 this time I don't know if that's realistic, he's just chuffed to get his golden ticket (free) now.

Bloody hell, I'm 53 and I'd like to see another ha.

This season has been massive, for Warne, it was a case of proving why he was hired and he has done that. Next season is going to be a challenge, proving those that doubt he can hack it at championship level and whilst he can rely upon more resources than he had at Rotherham, it is unlikely to be massive spending compared to many other teams in the Championship.

He has already said that the team will have to be "ripped up", in effect he is starting again, though with a nucleus of players who have a track record in the higher division. With some a combination of good free transfers, some players bought and of course better quality loan players, he should be ato assemble a squad capable of mid table at least.

Me too, except of course there's that fan thing. You know, if we're 20th why not 19th and if 19th why not 18th etc etc!
