Apologies if already posted. Never knew we had this position at the club.

Thats a good idea, increase the wage bill further.

    What does nepotism mean?

In fairness, I’m not sure we know enough about the person, role and specifics such as wage to make comments on this. Probably would be good to remember for the next fan forum.

Quietly and with no announcement, in July 2024, Barnsley FC added another member of staff to the revised staffing structure.

The post of Chief of Staff to the CEO has been created. There are no details as to the job description as no details of any job advertisement/ interview seem to have been published beforehand or any information since.

It is apparently some kind of PA to CEO Jon Flatman coupled with oversight of the Women's Team in the BFC structure.

It is not clear whether the job is an unpaid internship or salaried, though it seems unlikely such a post at that level would be an internship.

The successful candidate was Penelope Edmonds, daughter of Matthew and Julie Ann Edmonds. Julie retains her business name of Julie Ann Quay (JAQ) and is a fashionista (VFILES) and a Director of Barnsley Football Club.

Congratulations to Penelope on being appointed and I wish her well in her duties.

Forgot to add that Penelope's father, Matthew, is the owner of Jamakepe Investments, a New York Hedge Fund that was part of the original Conway "Investor Group" and is the only Hedge Fund from that Group still owning shares in Barnsley FC. Julie Ann Edmonds is a Director on the back of those shares.

Copies of the Job Advert, Job Description, Person Specification outlining the skills, qualifications and attributes required, applications received etc should still be on file even though it is four months since the appointment.

An equal opportunity employer such as Barnsley FC would be meticulous in keeping such records for at least six months in case any dispute arose involving alleged unfairness claims on behalf of other candidates.

Such documentation may have been lost/ mislaid/ shredded on confidentiality grounds and it is now time to "move on, nothing to see here".
