Thread: Sam Clucas

  1. #11
I thought Clucas was one of the better players last season once he got up to speed, not sure how Oldham can afford him but we can`t,unless the player has decided he would take a big drop in wages.
Surprised no one else in our league has signed him up,maybe Evans knows something we don`t.

If he doesn't he'll make something up

RU66 you miss the point being made.
    1. Evans rates the player
    2. Evans says he wanted too much money
    3. Evans says we never made him an offer
    4. He has joined a non-league team on a short-term contract, so clearly his financial expectations are still not at the championship level
    5. We have a space in our squad
    6. we lost a key midfielder for 2 months and we might suffer another injury in that area (e.g. mcWilliams has been out)
    7. We are told we operate a very, very good L1 budget

    add to that
    1. He takes a good set piece, that gives us options in an area that we have struggled
    2. He is calm on the ball and can pass
    3. He was already here and Evans says they had a good relationship in the short-time

It has nothing to do whether you or I rate the player but the fact Evans does and his reason for him not being here, doesn't stack up to basic scrutiny. This is one of the reasons i dislike Evans because you cannot believe a word the man says, I would tolerate that if we were winning because the club is more important.

You still miss the point, it isn't about the player it is about the narrative around the player.

Players gone. Evans I can't see many of our players liking his type of abrasive management.

I agree with you on the second part of that statement

Derbs, some good observations there. I wonder how many are true?

It makes you wonder what to believe Evans has to say these days. Having said that, number 7 is not proving itself to be true, or why would be full of a team of loanees, free agents and over 30's.

Will we ever learn to be brave and go for more youthful players? I don't care if we went down that road and it took us two seasons to gel but here we are again. Raggett, Kelly, McWilliams and to top it all, our supposed saviour in Clark - Harris, all crocked and well before a dozen games! On top of that, Humphreys looks totally disinterested and is not the player he was showing last season.

Finally, what is the secret cloak wrapped around Osong? Is he still here? Is he injured? I've not seen anything about this lad for weeks and he doesn't even make the bench now so what exactly is going off with him?

Two fringe players are set to add to Evans' options, with midfielder Shaun McWilliams and young attacker Esapa Osong expected to shake off groin niggles that kept them out of last Saturday's FA Cup defeat at the hands of Cheltenham Town.
