    Grand National

    Who's backing what?

I've noticed Altobelli is running in the race before the National, can't see it winning though I might have a little e/w on it.

I've backed a shed load in the National Alfie, but if I had to pick one it would be Vanillier. What you on ?

Alto is a strange one, no idea what it's doing in that race, I can't see it beating most these off levels and it would be getting weight off 9 of them in a handicap. It's never run over even close to this distance, who knows if it stays or not. My best guess is the owners want a day out at Aintree on National day and they're just having a jolly. (Famous last words ?)

Three bad days at Black Rock for me Alfie, I still can't come to terms with all these Irish horses, they're killing NH racing for me. Bring on the flat racing, not many Irish horses at Catterick, Ripon or Thirsk.

True Sammy, and he has that many top class horses, I'm convinced he often has no idea himself which ones are his likeliest winners. So he just throws half a dozen at any top race and lets them fight it out. And if Willie himself doesn't know, what chance have I got ?

33 left in the Scottish National on Saturday, 11 of them trained by Willie Mullins, 6 of them in the first 8 in the betting. Used to be one of my favourite races but I doubt I'll give it a second glance this year.

Willie has done me again, he ran 6 in the Scottish National, so taking the hint I backed three of them. Of the three I didn't back, one won and one finished 2nd.
