Every fan I speak to at the matches seems to have the same opinion...

    LEFT BACK
    CENTRE BACK
    POWERFUL MIDFIELDER
A CENTRE FORWARD with pace who can run in behind

January is the time to turn a nearly team into a title winning team.[/quote]

A left back who can offer genuine competition/cover for Forsyth does seem to everyone to be an obvious need. A definite upgrade in cb area would help, but not too unhappy with what we have. Just need a settled pairing IMO.

Can't see the point in a new cm with Thorne due back. Maybe a short term loan for now, at most.

    Striker who can run in

The striker who runs in behind needs to be a player with pace to stretch the game when we need the plan B. I think Best was bought for role but it's fair to say that loan hasn't paid off.

Maybe I have been harsh on the recruiters as a few of the loan signings have been inspired. Wisdom, Bamford and Ibe. Ibe seems to be coming into his own now.

It's going to be very interesting to see why January brings, I still believe a couple of loans at the very least to give the group a boost.

Wouldn't disagree with that, I still think a left back would be useful, but certainly cover up front, or someone who can be put on to change a game would be useful.

The Czech lad would be a major coup

Yes he would, but do you not count Thorne as a major signing first on the team sheet? McClaren brought him in and then signed him permanently for somewhere between £2 -£3 million, seeing as our record signing is £3.5 million I'd count that as a major signing.

Also Bamford, Wisdom, Butland, Ibe, mascarell would they ahve come if McClaren hadn't been here?

Theres an irony in fans knowing whats needed not thinking about what the club can afford, you don't get much of a quality player for under £2 million, which is double what the club usually spends in a whole transfer window!!
