and again it was a point squeezed with a desperate goal - as where were our strikers - how often did Barnes and Vokes test Ederson yesterday ?.....and great if a goal comes from a winger or defender etc - but we shouldn't be relying on them to save the game with those extra shots - if we dont have strikers that can regularly hit the target (thats their job) then we drastically lower our chances of scoring/winning the game.

....am looking to Pope to score next !

I can understand that Norder , whilst both are honest hard working footballers they don't offer the trait of getting in behind defences which I feel with the shape and system we play leaves them with a smaller percentage of chances.

They are both similar in many ways and I felt yesterday they linked well and linked up when they could brilliantly, most of this though was in front of City's back four.

Whilst I rate both of them - Vokes I believe would be the better partner to a quicker forward partner who can go in behind defences ( Vokes - Ings ) etc.
Wood looks an Athlete when he plays but we have seemed to try and link him with an out of position Hendrick where as he may be more effective if we get a front man with pace and the brain to make the runs we are alluding to.
    Next season should be interesting.

...agree - they are what they are - and just as nice as it is to see horses run around a ring - they're of little use if they fail to jump the fences.
If it is that we play in such a style/shape that would cause a lessening in their ability to score - then all the more reason to offload them an bring in some of greater talent - but to myself, it's mostly an excuse for covering on their failings - as again.....at this level (imho) - they're strikers/forwards in nothing but name - and really little more than gap fillers.
Saying that - they should be able to bag a few at Championship level Swansea easily enough...shouldn't they ?
.....and won't hold my breath waiting for that front man - Army....have gone through last and this season waiting for their arrival - so won't be ecstatically happy if it does happen - more - what took you so long - about time numpties !

    Cheers.

So we need a striker who can score regularly, and besides scoring regularly, someone good enough to make his own chances, not just rely on the very few chances his Burnley team mates will create for him. We're looking then for a 14/15 goal a season PL striker, one in three average.
There are currently 11 in the PL scoring at this rate or higher,

Kane, Salah, Aguero, Sterling, Lukaku, Vardy, Firmino, Morata, Rooney, Lacazette and Martial.

Which one should we go for ?

no Messi on that list Sinkov - it's just not good enough.

....after 26 games we've got Barnes and Vokes on 3 goals a peice - lets see what other forwards can do better - but why think so big...we dont need to go up there when can go low - right to the bottom - into relegation land, West Brom to start - there's Rondon with 4 goals to his name, 1 better than ours - but poor fellow, perhaps he's not getting the service, and who's that....it's Jay Rodriguez, he's another with 4 goals, poor Jay - rooted to the bottom of the table.
Now we go to Huddersfield - also in a relegation spot, but things are hotting up with Laurent Depoitre coming in with a whole 5 goals, and running closely behind him it's back to 4 from Steve Mounie.
Lastly we have Stoke, though they have scored 26 goals...their forwards aren't not fairing any better than the Terriers...with Diouf on 5 and Choupo-Moting on 4.
Does that mean ours have the worst showing in the PL....surely not !

At the risk of sounding boring, Burnley are currently sitting SEVENTH in the English Premier League!

With a couple of better finishers we could be 5 or 6- remember, we were 4th for 24 hours matching the top 4 -6 teams. But now we are many points behind. 7th in the PL is a great feeling but we didnt maintain that lofty perch not because we let in too many but because we dont have better strikers.SD will sort that out in the summer.
