The super league was all about super money, as apposed to super teams
Out of the 12 original teams that signed up for the so called super league 5 aren't in the knockout stages. Barca, Juventus, Atletico, Man Utd and Arsenal. Plus Spurs and AC Milan could also miss out.
So much for the super teams.
The super league was all about super money, as apposed to super teams
It was to protect themselves against this precise eventuality, where teams progress on merit!
I think it was partially led as two human rights abusers are buying lots of success City/PSG.
Add Newcastle to the list now only a matter of time before they are winning trophies.
They went about it the wrong way it needs to always be on merit and try put a cap on oil clubs spending.
Just imagine, if Notts were taken over by some mega rich Saudi prince, who spent millions in taking us all the way to the premier league. How many supporters would actually not be happy.
A Saudi national isn't the problem but I think it becomes a problem if you become a PR exercise for certain people.
Newcastle fans hated Ashley said he used them to promote his shop etc yet they have said nothing about the bloke in charge of Saudi Arabia who instructed a murder on a journo and changes their kit to Saudi colours (Oh they aren't linked to govt either ..brilliant)
We wont ever attract these sorts they go for fallen giants with large fanbases who are starved of success....at a guess someone like Leeds could be next.

Reminds me of the time when Bolton Wanderers were in the Prem and they put forward a proposal to ban relegation from that league. Fortunately they failed and now they're playing the likes of Accrington, Cheltenham, Fleetwood, Burton Albion, Morecambe and the mighty Forest Green Rovers. The day the bigger clubs succeed in pulling the ladder up behind them will be the day football as we know it dies.
