The Establishment: And How They Get Away With It by Owen Jones

A great insight into how far Britain has moved to the right since 1980 (unbroken Tory and Tory-lite rule for 35 years now). Gap between the rich and the rest has never been wider and successive governments still roll over to the Murdochs, Amazons etc.

Selling off state industries, no support to key / strategic employers in hour of need, etc. etc.

        A real eye opener.

Currently reading Cormac McCarthy's Border trilogy. Pretty good, rather bleak like.
Same dude who wrote No Country for Old Men, The Road, Blood Meridian etc. The latter is one of my favourite things I've read in recent years, despite being ludicrously dark.

It's a cracker like, probably the best introduction to McCarthy's stuff as well. I read it in a single sitting one hungover day.

Amongst books read this week were "Ham on Rye" by Charles Bukowski. Had never read anything by him previsouly, but this was an excellent book. Cannot wait to stuck in to more of his stuff.

I'm reading this at the moment. I know a lot of this stuff which is going on which is mentioned in the book, but when you read it all together it makes depressing reading.

As a nation we are sleeping walking into the abyss.
