  • Lords of Chaos - Robert Jordan. 6th book of the Wheel of Time series and I think I'm going to sack it. Just bored of the same structure to each book (good at the start, long stretches of journey/quest guff, and then a battle at the end).

Golden Hill - Francis Spufford. Found it a bit tough going at first but it's fair rattling along. All about a British stranger arriving in 17th century and the havoc that ensues. Much better than my appalling synopsis of the plot.

    Recently read:-

Ardennes 1944 - Anthony Beever. Excellent.

    • Just finished Acid House by Irvine Welsh and now onto Filth.
Funny as f4ck written by a man who has obviously been on the gear.
      I think I might re-read Ecstacy again.

        Anyway, good effort min

              • Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell.

Started off all "yey America" "America rules" but you quickly get past that

Good so far. Im sure it will point out the holywood glamourisations from the film.

                (tinypic nae working)

There's a chap from your neck of the woods who does all that carry on. I hadn't spoken to him in about 10 years & had a quick blether with him on Facebook. Since I'd last spoke to him, hed climbed Everest twice, was going back for a third, set the uk free diving record, retraced the journey that Shackleton made & near starved himself filming a C4 doc in the @rse end of Canada.

Id spent most of it in the pub

                    • Lone Survivor was very good and as imagined it made you realise the bits of the film that were made up. Very good read

On to this now. Should be interesting

                            • The above was ok. But I thought it lacked detail, it could have been more in depth. F@ck prison in Venezuela though, I learned that much

Im sure it was Buc who mentioned it. Ill give it a bash

                              • Buc if it was you who said this ^^^^^^ was good you are right. He lived a fair old life before his writing days. The way its written is witty and the way he tells it all is great.

I laughed when he was describing the Lion and the cooks wife in Tanzania.

Should finish it tonight at break time. Good read
