    • It’s Manchester
      It’ll rain

      • It's supposed to rain all day tomorrow.

The Aussies have made a right mess of this game, should have scored a lot more than 317 and then bowled a load of rubbish.

#Onthisday in 1998, one of the most epic battles in cricket's history played out at Trent Bridge https://t.co/OFfVm0yNaw

          • Can’t open it, but see that it’s Atherton.

Was it the war of brutal attrition with Allan Donald in the 1998 test v the Saffers?

Anyone who thinks cricket’s for stereotyped pooves and mincing girlies should watch it if it is. The pair of them have a right laugh about it nowadays.

Two weeks later, in an Aisne Valley heatwave, I sat in my car and through static and white noise, listened to TMS on Radio4 LW, as England won at Headingley to take the series 2-1.

Next year, I listened in again to the series in South Africa as I applied 25 million coats of varnish to a staircase we’d replaced. The only time I’ve ever been tempted to get fûcking Sky, the fûckers, was when I’d to nip into John Lewis and saw in HD 42” colour what I’d been listening to on a crystal set in the northern ‘burbs.

            • Cricket isn't my thing .

Each to their own I suppose .

Another thing this threat had been on the go for years .

But at least it's in off topic, where all non-football related threads should be. Not like that thread about America's favorite sport.

What a grest Ashes. Haven't enjoyed it that much for a long time. Shame about the 2 days lost to rain in the 4th test.

                  • It was a fantastic series and what a send-off for Broad. Hit a six off your last ball batting and take a Test-winning wicket with your last delivery!!

                      • Why is the cricket world cup on at the same time as the rugby world cup? It doesn't make any sense. Most people haven't even noticed the cricket one has started.

                        • The cricket world cup was moved from February/March to October/November because the qualifying process was affected by the pandemic.

Following the final on the BBC India started off by scoring at over 8 an over, lost a couple of wickets, rebuilt and then this https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/67467918 - 100,00 crowd completely silenced (be very similar on 17th when Miovski slots in the winner in the 89th min.). Tremendous performances from Head and Labuschange - 48/3 to 239/4.

                            • Morning Mason, Morning Everyone. 3rd Test of the Ashes starts in 5 minutes. Series hasn?t gone great for England thus far but looking at turning things around in the City of Churches. Steve Smith has the runs so is replaced by Khawaja, England bring in Tongue for Atkinson in their only change.

Aussies win the toss and will bat.
