I'm amazed they have 72k members.
I'll never understand why anyone would want to be a member of a political party.

That's a good shout cause and effect coming into play. The Murrells are desperate to get Humza elected.. He knows where the bodies are buried.

I think being a member of the SNP is an entirely different thing to being a member of any other party. People join because ultimately they want Independence rather than supporting the dogmatic ideologies of other parties. People oin the Tories because they are greedy selfish people. Labour used to be a working class party ..

And why do you insist on calling them The Murrells? It's like you think you're a bit smart because you know her married name. Like people who hear "Englandshire" said once, then constantly come out with it thinking its some sort of hilarious put down.

So independence is excused from being a ‘dogmatic ideology’?

                  Crikey, who knew?

I’m fed up of going to the bottom of our stairs and to the end of our street.

You ken what I mean Independence is also a highly emotional thing, For some folk it Transends politics. And yes for some it is dogmatic. But there's defo a passion there you don't get wi the Libdems et'al. Now you be careful at the end of your street might be bogie men.

In all seriousness, that's an interesting point.
I'd never really thought of independence as an "ideology" as such.
I'd always though of it as an infrastructural realignment with the aim of getting out from an ideology that has become the norm.
If the UK had competing ideologies that got voted upon periodically.....I could maybe live with that.
                      But it doesn't.
It has the default system of government that has to be adhered to.

Billy Connolly summed up Runrig best by describing their sound as “like Calum Kennedy falling off a cliff”. Like many musical acts I find myself thinking “I can almost see the appeal, but it’s not pressing my musical buttons”. I’ll desist from listing others who fall into that category as I need neither the arguments nor the grief.
