Great running back, good in Police Squad......questionable in some areas beyond that.

Chris McClure aka Christian, front man of The Chris McClure Section, eye-wateringly good soul band on the late 60s/early 70s before he took the far more lucrative cabaret route as Christian. Last time I saw him play, I think, was as Billy Connolly’s support at HMT in December 1974.
In endless time. In Endless Art.
Booo.

I saw the headline and remembered him from the World Cup 82 song right away. Probably more the TOTP performance.Originally posted by 57vintage View PostChris McClure aka Christian, front man of The Chris McClure Section, eye-wateringly good soul band on the late 60s/early 70s before he took the far more lucrative cabaret route as Christian. Amazing how things like that stay in your head, whilst important stuff disappears quick.

I've had a look into it, and he finished third in the 1978 selection, behind the winner "Bad Old Days" by Co-Co, which flopped in the contest. Christian's song was "Shine It On", written by Bill Martin & Phil Coulter. They also wrote "Puppet on a String", Sandie Shaw's winning entry in 1967.Originally posted by InversneckieDob View PostI think he was almost the UK entry into Eurovision way back.
Unless my aging memory is playing tricks, he lost out to the eventual winner "Save all your kisses for me" by The Brotherhood of Man.
RIP fella.

David Wilkie.
Olympic gold medalist at the 76 Olympics. Gone at the age of 70.
Retired at the age of 22.
I met him once when I was a kid. He was going around swimming clubs giving kids encouragement in their swimming. The one and only sport I was ever any good at.
I'm sure I was told he was from Aberdeen, but I don't think that's the case.
