I think McGarvey and Mcgoo were very similar players probably didn't realise McGarvey was the good guy of the two back then.
Archer dedicated a whole column in SoS to that trip, It was a fantastic piece wish I still had it. But he truly joined in the experience ,Happy daze.

Actually it may have been another Sunday publication as I think SoS was founded after that glorious night, Herald perhaps. The article went under the heading " Slow boat to Gothenburg" would love to read it again.

Possibly/probably these journo's tended to flit about. I do remember him on Scotsport and of course he's the author of that famous quote

“This has to be said about Rangers, as a Scottish Football club they are a permanent embarrassment and an occasional disgrace. This country would be a better place if Rangers did not exist.”

Gianluca Vialli gone aged just 58. Had been battling cancer for a few years.

A decent player back in the day for Juventus.

Was a picture of him at Pittodrie in todays programmes, we Teddy Scott, Drew Jarvie, Jocky Scott and Alex Smith and he had his arm around Teddy, so he clearly knew talent when he came across it.

And that quote still stands strong, word for word, to this day.
