I refuse to watch the full highlights again - why put yourself through that - but I just saw Hibs second goal again.

Jesus feckin christ, that is probably the most pathetic, amateur, second rate bit of play and defending Ive ever seen.

    Just utterly horrific incompetence.

Transitions eh Jimmy, aye, that was a transition right enough.

I said earlier in the thread the defence remains a shambles - I think I was being kind.

Apart from the 5 months of Pollock, MacDonald and Scales we have been a complete joke at the back since McInnes left.

Why is that? Why cant we sign any proper defenders?

Its just unbelievable how constantly inept we are at the back, and every new signing does absolutely nothing to improve it.

At least Armstrong was trying. Palaversa was like the second coming of Gary McDonald.
I agree that Armstrong isnt a holding midfielder but I have been disappointed with him so far, he might just be lacking in match fitness because he didnt have a proper preseason so im not writing him off yet.

Palaversa has been poor for a while, he was one of the guys I was talking about a while ago. Rumour is he hates it here and thought he was going to use us as a stepping stone to a bigger club.

I cant see him getting a move to a higher level than us with the way he has been playing for nearly a year.

When Robson took over from Goodwin in 2023 and we signed Pollock and MacDonald I remember every time a ball came towards our box they just cleared it up the park. There was none of this playing out from the back stuff and it worked.

Before that under Glass and Goodwin and after that spell under Robson we have been trying to play out from the back and it’s not worked.

Personally I would rather have our defenders just clear the ball and then try to play football further up the pitch. Sitting at Pittodrie watching the goalkeeper and centre backs passing the ball back and forth to one another is dreadful to watch.

I've been of the opinion that most of our issues are due to our central midfield pairing.

To me, we lose most games by giving the opposition the freedom of the park and most teams can exploit that space given.

Robson had Scales, Pollock and MacDonald at the back, but Ramadani and Shinnie didn't leave the gaps that we currently see nearly every week.
That two complimented each other well and we haven't had that since we sold Ramadani and we know Shinnie isn't the player he was.

It's just so predictable and frustrating to watch, week after week.

Just wrote something similar. In fact wrote a huge **** off post covering period since DM left only for this ****ing board to eat it.
Saved boring you all I guess but FFS it’s annoying. Really is time to call this place quits.

Was that the one where the attacker ghosted past our three defenders as if they weren?t there.

Hibs third against us at Easter Rd last season that started the slump. Genuinely think thats the worst goal I?ve ever seen at any level

That boys going nowhere but downhill from here. Just yet another that regularly delivers absolutely nothing when he plays.

No pace, despite his size he cant tackle and isnt particularly physical, technically he seems to have some ability, but rarely shows it. Just not very good.

That first paragraph sums up a lot of our problems IMO - too many players just seeing us as a stepping stone and fundamentally not giving a fuuck about the club, the fans or the mess we are in.

Just not folk who you want - and need - in the trenches to help dig you out when the going gets tough.

Of course, these players all miss the basic point that the step up to a higher level only happens if you play well and deliver here - but if you don’t fundamentally give a fuuck, then thats not gonna bother you too much.

Aye, that was another total clusterfuuck for sure. I agree with the other point that the midfield pairing is regularly leaving them badly exposed, but take yer pick really on fuuck ups - the defence is an ongoing long term footballing holocaust.

"highlights" is not a word that I would chose to describe that, but anyway I have recently watched them again as well and every time you watch them it gets worse.
at 0-0 Malloy should have at least been hitting the target from 7 yards out (very poor)
Still at 0-0 that miss from the french laddie gets worse and worse ever time you see that was a real sitter (he can fk off back to Sunderland any time he likes, pathetic signing)
then at 0-1 not long before their 2nd goal Lazetic through one on one with their keeper that was also pathetic he should have been hitting the back of the net with that chance and then it's a different outcome.
Their 2nd goal is quite frankly un fkn believable, that should never have happened both Mine and Dorrington should be docked fkn wages for that malarkey, and I think it was Armstrong who stuck out a leg in a half hearted feable like attempt to stop the hibs player before he glided past dorrington and milne like they wirna even there ffs

On a side note and while I am in a moaning mood have been saying since first time I seen him, milanovic needs to be shown the door as he is just an imposter,
Mitov needs to be on the bench for a time, and Jensen need to be binned

OK on to Rugby park we go, surely a loss there will result in Jimmy finally getting his P45

I get James Wilson vibes from Palaversa.

You can tell he has got something, but we don't really see it.

Maybe his injury took its toll more mentally, like Wilson.

It’s all starting to come back now. The goals we were losing last season were horrendous. How many times were we done by a simple ball through the middle, over the top or in the space left by our full backs? This should be a relatively simple fix and its still happening

Incredibly we’ve conceded fewer goals than 5 of the teams above us and the same amount as Hibs in third.
Not all on the defence, as poor as some have been, they have feck all in front of them. Midfield is a binfire. An utter bin fire.

Not to mention having scored 16 goals fewer than ruddy Hearts and only 9 games in. 6 goals in 9 games is piss poor.

Both bigot brothers imploding and us being in no position to exploit it is bloody frustrating.

Just reads the Willie Miller article in the P&J and he want us to stick with the back three and get some consistency going.

I'd love to get his real thoughts on our defence when watching our latest disaster.

Maybe just get him to sit in the stands and give one or two the famous stare.

Possibly the stare wouldn't be the same without the hair and tash. It was fearsome back in the day.
