None of our centre backs or midfielders are suited to play against the likes of St Mirren or Kilmarnock, they are all in the team to pass the ball around like Man City but these teams will never allow you to do that.

If we are going to be able to battle these teams then a whole load of hammer throwers will be needed and a Steven Robinson type put in charge, otherwise we just need to be happy when we “fluke” the 3 points in these games.
Jimmy is possibly adapting to our game. No point trying to play fancy fitba when the other teams players just bounce our players off the ball.

It's like a Fergie Man U team. Wenger and others would bemoan that the likes of Stoke or Bolton would rough their players up to get points and it wasn't proper football. Fergie never moaned about that, as he usually had players who could play and handle the rough stuff.

I honestly think a lot of fans at a lot of clubs watch too much Sky and think fitba should be all tippy tappy shyte, at every level. Whilst you want to see good fitba, it is great to sh*thouse a win.

We have some good battlers in our team and other not so much. It's about getting the balance right and getting confidence into the players, which will come by winning games and pulling ourselves away from the bottom reaches of the league.

If we can do that, maybe the better footballers can start to prove their worth.

Motherwell and Hearts are our next league games at home. I'd quite happily sh*thouse those games too, if it means six points.

In reality, winning the league games is all that matters so I am pleased we went to Kilmarnock and came away with all the points. Well done Dons.
I was happy to see the young lad Lobban getting a start and he will progress from this if we keep giving the lad the opportunity to play.

I wonder if the appointment of Lutz is having an effect on everyone regarding the football side of the club. A real football person coming into the club around 10th November will mean only certain excuses will be accepted and tolerated for a short period of time.
I would imagine the new guy will be monitoring how we train and how we conduct ourselves through matches played.
No offence to Steven Gunn (who has now been replaced), Alan Burrows or Dave Cormack but this guy has more clout talking to the manager about football. The manager will be kept on his toes now.
I am pleased we have employed a football person at the club to oversee our football situation. Well done Dave Cormack in that regard.

I completely agree with you dd.

If we win 1-0 and dont play that great I am happy, anything after that is a bonus. Its great if we play well and win by scoring 4 or 5 goals but to me its all about coming away with the victory no matter how it is achieved.

We'll worry about s*xy fitba another day.
3 wins in 4 in the league. 3 clean sheets. Only hearts gained more points in same time
And as you say first win in donkeys at both grounds.

Do people not remember our ‘great winning run’ when he came in? A lot of that wasn't bonnie and TBH we didn’t always merit those wins. There wasn’t much complaining then.

This isn’t aimed at anyone here but in general - there’s a narrative around him now and there was absolutely a lot of so called supporters pig sick that we won that last night.

As I said last night, similar to yourself, I actually like that we ‘shithoused’ it. After Sunday I was worried he didn’t have that in him. He’s allayed my doubts a bit, hopefully Sunday was as bad as it gets. Just a bloody rotten day all round.

I was fuming after Sundays performance and result so I was in the Thelin out camp. I have always wanted him to succeed here but he is going to have to improve the league form which has been horrendous for a year now. 3 wins out of 4 is certainly an improvement so hopefully it continues in the coming months.

Unfortunately because of the form in the last year there is going to be a section of our support who will be calling for him to be sacked every time we lose a game.

I did hear a rumour yesterday that Thelin offered his resignation to Cormack after Sunday but it was rejected. I think Thelin is going to be here for a while whether people like it or not.Personally I am happy enough with that to see how he gets on working with the new sporting director.

Its not the fans that are the problem. Its the managers watching too much tippy tappy shyte on SKY

Fans will put up with anything if the team is winning. Managers sticking to their footballing philosophies regardless of the opposition or how the game is going drives me mental.

We'll have to disagree on that one Mason.

Most fans will put up with what comes our way, it's what we do.

More than a good few are not on this planet with their expectations. This is apparent at most clubs sadly.

We even have quite a few fans, growing in number who are coming the c**t regarding our cup win.

Cup was won fair and square and I don't give a f*ck how much lower league opposition we had on the way to winning it.

That really does my flocking head in.

You read some of the posts online last night, it read like we got beat.

Im still haunted by watching Joe Lewis rolling the ball sideways to a centre half on the 6 yard line, while 1-0 down to Darvel
The players wouldnt want to do it, the fans wouldnt want to watch it but the tadger in the dugout had his footballing philosophy

Thelin is as guilty of it as the rest in recent years. Honestly dont think Aberdeen have set up properly to defend a set piece since Jimmy Calderwood

Aye, those zoomers need a boot in the **** - see them all over facebook groups.

I love winning ugly. I have very fond memories of watching the McInnes team which was great at that. Guys like Anderson, Reynolds & Robson were good at seeing games out & you just trusted that they'd impose some control on the game.

We didn't have that at all last night, imo, and that's the difference.

I thought the Darvel loss would have been excised for you with our cup win.

You were at it though and that ones always hurt more. Not near as bad if watching on the telly or listening on the radio.

Is it our manager or is it our chairman that is trying to instill this philosophy?

Hopefully Jimmy can find a happy medium to keep everyone happyish.

I know ive got nobody to blame but myself but on the morning of the game, I posted this on Facebook

? It?s actually a wee bit insulting that the World Famous Aberdeen, winner of two euro baubles & who have had players such as Harper, Miller, Bett & Jess, are forced to play the Dog & Duck on a Monday night in the Scottish Cup

That said, I?m quite looking forward to it. This is the biggest event that?s ever happened to the village of Darvel & the slack jawed yokels will be talking about it for generations.

If anyone is wanting to enjoy this festival of football, it?s on BBC Scotland later. 6-0 Aberdeen at a minimum?

You can imagine how that went down

There are definitely fans who want us to play pepball and roll over every team we come up against. I dont know if thats just a section of our support or every club has fans like that.

When I was younger I used to watch a lot of the English premier league games and it was quite entertaining in the 90s and early 2000s.

As I got older I stopped watching it but my loon has started to get into so I have been watching some games with him. From what I have seen it is really boring, even all of the bigger clubs are dreadful to watch playing out from the back and all seem to be instructed to walk the ball into the net.

Why anyone would want us to play like that is beyond me.

To be fair, I'm sure we all thought that Darvel would be a stroll in the park.

Now let's never speak of it again.
