  • Greenock Morton v Aberdeen

On to League Cup action next Saturday, kicking off at the unusual time of 3 pm.

The game is at Cappielow. If you want to see what Cappielow looked like in the 1970s, then go to the match on Saturday.

I fancy us to come good and win 2-0, Yengi and the new striker to score.

Our old bogey team, what could possibly go wrong.

We will make this a difficult tie because we have players who are of a poor mental standard. They look like they lack leadership. No one of substance would put up with their performances this season.
We might beat them in penalties (if we are lucky)

Tickets available for this. Thinking of going down for it, as never been to Greenock before.

I do remember them as a bogey team though and they gave us a decent game in the Scottish Cup a few years back, 2017??

We have a good cup record over recent seasons and will beat them on Saturday

The last match I was at against Morton we had just signed a former PSG player and made him the captain straight away. Billy Dodds scored a hat trick and fat Dean Windass baited the Morton fans and he ran rampant in extra time by scoring 4 goals. What a game!

Can only hope he's suspended or injured.

I think the last time I was there was the afternoon of the Bradford City fire. Gothenburg Day 1985. We won (2-0?) and over pints in a Renfrew pub saw the footage of the aftermath at Valley Parade. Shocking stuff.

Two weeks later, more horror at Heysel.

                    What a ****e few weeks.

I mind following the 7-3 win in 1996 on Ceefax. I thought that the mannie (or wifie) who did the typing was having a laugh or something.

A copper told us the first-aiders were at the far end of the stand, so we supported him around the track to get the injury seen to, right across the dugouts. No offer of help from either of the physios and the advice was ?go to casualty in Aberdeen?. Neil still partook of The Pints though.

Yeah, I had the ?pleasure? of working in Greenock for 6 months back in the late 90s.

Rained every day & a more grim, desolate & run down shytehole Ive never had the misfortune to visit.

Just a simply dreadful place with no redeeming features. So ill nae be gaan on Saturday.
