The signs was there in his last interview when he was complaining about the squad.

Who’s next for Motherwell? What about a McCann / McFadden team?

        Good shout.
I think there could be a place for McFadden to return to Motherwell in some capacity

“I now feel it is the time for someone new to take the club forward as I feel I have taken it as far as I can.“

If only every manager had his integrity....

Ah but there's not too many in the SPFL that have McInnes's wages...

When a team is struggling, as Motherwell have done all year, it’s pretty unusual for the assistant to be given the job.
He’s been part of the problem.

              • See Tommy Wright is in the running for the vacant post at Murderwell since the resignation of Robinson.
And here was me hoping they would offer the job to McInnes or at least bring back McGhee just for the banter.

All three options are the equivalent o' rearranging the deckchairs on the proverbial non-floaty-boatie.

Ah suspect they will either go for somethin creative, or dig up some 'Murderwell minded' semi ex-legend .... maybe appoint Willie Pettigrew as 'figurehead' manager, but hae an assistant coach fa actually diz the job but keeps eez trap shut.

Then again, there's ayeways Craig Broon

Tommy Wright would be a decent appointment for them to be fair , he’s won the Scottish cup more times than our manager has.

                    • nae surprises here, Lampard gone.

                      • Dyer gone at Killie

Alex Dyer has left his job as Kilmarnock manager 'by mutual consent' after his side's 3-2 home collapse to St Johnstone.

                            • You would imagine Gary Holt would be a good fit at Killie given his history there
