Derek is the bookies favourite but there is an elephant in the room now at sevco. They now have a director of football who wasnt there when pedro was appointed. He is going to have a big say on the new manager unlike before when it was a committee set up by the board.
There are many managers who don't like that set up.

I’m not just talking about last night he has had a good squad here for a couple of years and even when they were a bit naff they still finished 15-20 points ahead of us.Originally posted by afc1903mad View PostLast night means nothing.
Rangers apparently spent about £10m in the summer on players.
If DM had that, he'd comfortably have them in second and closer to Celtic.
There's no magic wand there and it would take either a war chest or a number of seasons to compete more.
Getting pumped out of Europe at the first hurdle would not have helped either.
They maybe spent 10 million in the summer but are they any better than us?
There wouldn’t be much in it so I can’t see him being able to get much closer to Celtic there than he has with us.

I'd agree, this year, with the squads as they are, he'd not get much closer to Celtic than us.Originally posted by rico94 View PostThey maybe spent 10 million in the summer but are they any better than us?

But with funds and the training facilities, I'm sure he would make them more competitive than us.

Sevco dont have training facilities right next to their ground so thats a no-go right there for Deek.Originally posted by afc1903mad View PostI'd agree, this year, with the squads as they are, he'd not get much closer to Celtic than us.

King has no money. His lawyer stated that only the other day. Even this so called £10m they spent in the summer… I guarantee it was nothing even close to that. It was all just paper and media talk.
The reality is that Sevco fans see their club one way. They see it as an institution, a club steeped in history, a club that wasn’t put into liquidation, the most successful club in the world… 54 titles blah blah blah. The real world doesn’t see them like that, hence why no one with any real money has ever tried to buy them.
Because Sevco fans see their club that way, they feel they have a divine right to be challenging for the title. The likes of McInnes as manager scares them because they feel they should be attracting someone of Brendan Rogers calibre. The talk of Pulis, Pardew, et al is all part of that train of thought. They of course are nowhere as attractive a club as Celtic and they cant stand that !!
Time for them to live in the real world.

Them sayin on the radio that being knocked out by Motherwell in league cup & drawing with Kilmarnock at home , was not acceptable.
Rules out McInnes then.
I think he'd probably do OK there though. They will eventually build up a decent squad , sooner or later the cycle of duopoly will resume in this broken footballing nation.
We also will have to replace McInnes sooner or later.
Having a loan player from Celtic is really not a good idea , not really.

DM is clearly the obvious choice for them. Given Pedro was their attempt at becoming a sophisticated European footballing side, they'll be tempted to rebound in the opposite direction and get someone linked to Rangers (just as they did with Smith after Le Guen) and McInnes is really the only person who ticks that box, isn't regarded as having major baggage, and might actually take it.
When you get past him you're either looking at going back to McLeish, chasing after former players in coaching roles who presumably wouldn't touch the job with a barge pole (Gattuso, Arteta) or giving it to someone who has no track record of success but just happened to play for them (Ferguson, McCulloch, McCann, Kenny Miller and the like would be completely laughable appointments).Last edited by sancho_panza; 26-10-2017, 04:59 PM.

Why not? I think he would.Originally posted by Aldo1983 View PostNot sure why you think that? If he gets offered a big job down south I can't seem him knocking it back for that reason.
He wants complete autonomy when it comes to transfers. Now, for every good signing here, he's fcuked up another one. Be that as it may, he would want complete control
