    RANGERS RESOLUTION
    SPFL STATEMENT

The SPFL Board received a requisition from Rangers, supported by two other clubs, that the Board must issue a further resolution to members. This resolution sought to compel the SPFL to lend money to all 42 Clubs.

The Board took legal advice from a leading QC on the proposed resolution. By law, the members of a private company can require their Board to circulate a resolution, unless such resolution would be ineffective if passed.

The clear and unequivocal legal advice received by the SPFL is that the resolution received from Rangers is ineffective in terms of company law. As a result, the Board determined this morning that it cannot be circulated to members.

We have seen a statement from Rangers that they “sought comment from the SPFL Executive on several occasions yesterday, to ensure [their] resolution was deemed competent”. For the avoidance of doubt, only at 10.18pm yesterday did the SPFL’s lawyer receive an email from Rangers seeking advice on the content of their resolution, which was put before the SPFL Board first thing this morning.

Rangers have expressed a desire to submit a further resolution. The SPFL’s lawyers will work with Rangers, as they will with any other member club, who wishes to put forward a resolution. The offer to help clubs with the drafting of their resolutions was made during the divisional conference calls on Wednesday. Rangers chose to proceed without seeking that help, with the result that their resolution was ineffective.

A spokesman said: “These are extremely difficult times for the people of Scotland and for every club in the land.

“The SPFL Board has worked hard to propose a clear way of quickly delivering much-needed fee payments to the 30 clubs in the Ladbrokes Championship, League 1 and League 2.

“The alternative is further weeks, and possibly months, of uncertainty and financial hardship for dozens of clubs which are desperately looking for a way to survive.”

    • Aberdeen need to vote for whatever is in the best interests of Aberdeen. The demise of Sevco is in the best interests of Aberdeen.

      • JacksHun seems to be saying club is voting against today. Hope that is wrong info.

Aberdeen FC to vote in 'needing a strong Rangers' shocker. No surprises there. Shameful.

          • Scum accuse the SPFL of bullying? Really? The club/ company that has done nothing but bully Scottish clubs for 8 years and their previous incarnation for many before that thinks that bullying is wrong? What brought about this change of heart? Hopefully this is a sign that they don't hold all the cards anymore, now that we've seen we can survive/ flourish without them. Not holding my breath though.

Surely voting against will delay the process and prevent SEVCO getting much needed funds? If they vote for the SPFL proposal, the leagues end and all money can be paid out. Or am I missing something?

The 3 leagues below the top league will end & clubs will get paid on their current position.
The top league reserves the right to keep the season open & try to finish... then if/when they can’t, it’s season over & the positions stand & money is paid out on current position.
                  I think

                  • So it turns out that clubs have another 28 days to vote. They really couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

                    • Something doesn’t smell right here. Reeks of Hunishness to me. Maybe a discreet backhander/promise of friendly etc to keep this rolling on...

My guess is Diets voted against and Sevco are the one left still to vote since they planned another resolution.

Done deal now anyway but whatever the hun ever suggested for anything we should always vote against on principal.

Championship - my guess Partick and Inverness said no & Dundee still to vote so that one is in the balance.

League one & two - Falkirk & Stranraer defo voted against. Don’t know who the other no vote is but it doesn’t matter as that’s a done deal too.

So everything hinges on Dundee in my view & whether they value the cash higher than keeping TSMSTID in the championship for another year...

                          • There is something suspect going on:
When I said there may be a big twist to this @spfl story , little did I know just HOW much drama was going on. 3 Championship clubs filled out “reject” voting slips. @PartickThistle @ICTFC @DundeeFC Only 2 arrived at the @spfl offices. 1 club is thinking of changing their vote.

                            • Tough call for Dundee actually.

Reject & they keep open the playoff possibility plus the possibility of 2 home games against TSMSTID next season if they stay down which would generate lots of cash - maybe near the same as they’ll get from the league placings.

Plus the chance to keep their big rivals down?

Got to be affa tempting like...

Was going to say the 3rd may have been endinburgh city but they are a bit behind cove and a bit ahead of 3rd
Recon it might have been queen's park who were a point from the playoffs/extra places
