Ironically, they're now printed in Germany.
There was a commando book where the Jerry boat was at sea just off Aberdeen and the Aberdeen skyline was one steeple and two pitched roofs ( or rooves as that was still the plural at that time...work with the p word too )

      • Surely if you read Commando or Warlord you’d have been near fluent, with invaluable words and phrases such as “achtung, achtung, die spitfire”, “hande hoch” and “schweinhundt”. All essential for a jaunt to the land of the Bosch.

(I say this as someone without a word of German beyond childhood comic-derived knowledge.)

          • My previous experiences with the delectable Dagmar obviously didn't require me to learn the German for " get them oot"

            • 1983. Official bus from Pittodrie to Munich. Dick Donald waved us off. Nice touch. We stopped at motorway services ( autobahn servis hooseyy ?). At about 9pm just before last bit of journey. We order food and the service girls speak to us in beautiful English. One of our own , a pissed up teuchter asks her in broad Doric "Foo far is Tae Munich quince ??"........... Strangely they didn't quite understand. So he repeated it , louder and more slowly. Aye. Hype !!!

I was in Germany for a few weeks recently and can speak and understand a good bit of German, but at a foodstall one night, without any alcohol too, I asked the boy serving for "een o em please" pointing to what they boy next to me had. My Wife cracked up and everytime we went for food afterwards, she always reminded me to ask for "een o em please".

                  • No real damage done today with Hibs getting done at Motherwell (still reckon Johnson will be first manager sacked, although McLean at Perth Saints is trying his hardest) and Hearts only drawing at home to Killie.

                        • I fancy the Spaniards.

I also think they'll win the cup.

Chance for revenge. Hope they've got their act together since last year.

                              • Hearts and Hibs are through in the Europa Conference League, and they'll be knocked out in the next round by PAOK of Greece and Aston Villa of Birmingham respectively.
