    • Anyone catch SPOTY on beeb 1 a little earlier? Just got back from Edinburgh, turned on the tv and was greeted by a montage of celtic and their un-beaten run with a voice over from that James Cosmos (?) Good timing or what?

      • Yes, saw that. Considering the result today, thought it was quite funny. So did some of the audience by the sound of it.

Notice a lot of guffies are on twitter mocking Scottish fitba and celtic's achievement, which is a bit rich considering the gap between Man City and the rest of them.

By the looks Man city may go on a longer run

          • The guffies can think what they want about Scottish football. Nice that they even show interest. Mind you the way things are going in their top league it certainly makes our league a better competition.

            • Watched Sportscene earlier & some of the football was magic. Can you imagine the circle jerk if Aguerro had scored a goal like St.Johnstones first?

That said, you can’t blame the English for bumming up their game but too many folk up here get sucked into the showbiz of it all. That Hamilton Ross County game was brilliant. Shame everyone there & everyone else thought it would be shyte

Aye.....that result was probably the worst thing that could've happened for us.

                • The Celtic result has been coming (maybe not the score line). They’ve been riding their luck for weeks and even the Celtic fans seem to think so. We shouldn’t be worried about a backlash. We just need DM to set the team out with the right approach for once.

They can mock all they want. I’d rather follow our lowly little league than the grotesque farce that is the EP. Every game is World XI A vs World XI B. How exciting - a sure fire cure for insomnia.

                  • I feel football in general has become slightly stale.

Too much money, cheating and lies.

Hate to say it but only watching the dons play the top 4 spfl teams and any Scotland game keeps my interest.

Nobody will admit this probably but games against celtic and the huns ARE exciting.

                    • Give me a Dons v Hearts/Hibs/Dundee Utd game any day, especially when the aforementioned teams are doing well and have a decent support behind them. Usually get a decent crowd, lively atmosphere and a good competitive game. These are the type of fixtures I'd love to watch every week.

Celtic games usually fill me with dread as I've seen us collapse against them on far too many occasions and I'm convinced there's a psychological problem with us every time we go into this fixture. Really wish we'd stop giving them so much bloody respect. Yes, they played well at Pittodrie the last time but we didn't half sit back and allow them to grow in confidence. Hearts were right in amongst them from the start and although that can backfire and you need a bit of luck, I'd much rather we took that approach.

I don't particularly enjoy the hun games either. Horrible atmosphere and we seem to have developed far too much respect for them, for whatever reason, which again, works against us and brings them closer to us in competitiveness (is that a word?). Seeing them against other teams tends to annoy me, as they look distinctly average and I know we should be wiping the floor with them.

Scotland games do nothing for me these days, sadly.

Really hope we don't take the 'oh sh!t, they've poked the hornets nest, we're in big trouble now" attitude. Would love to see us take the "they're not invincible at all, they're actually very much vincible, and we're going to go there and show them we can play a bit too".

There's every chance they could go on a bit of a downward spiral for the next couple of games, after what must have been a huge psychological blow, especially if we show some balls against them for a change, and not let them have it all their own way. This defeat has been coming for some time now, so hopefully it's not just a blip.

                        • This result coupled with the euro drubbings will no doubt have knocked their confidence. They're still clearly the best team in the league but getting horsed will affect any team.

I was just thinking that I couldn't recall a time when either of the cheeks had been beaten by four goals by another Scottish team (omitting OF games). I remember that the DABs won 3-0 at Ibrox in the early 90s and Hibs beat them there by the same scoreline in 2006. I don't recall Celtic taking a heavy defeat since we humped them twice in 90/91.

As I said, we shouldn't be fearful of a backlash. A backlash is a response to a bad day at the office. Celtic are suffering from a real dip in form. It's up to us to exploit that.

                          • While I agree with the sentiment that some of our recent performances against Celtic have been dismal, the "we're the only ones who sh*te it against celtic" brigade should note the following based on the recent H2H record between Hearts and Celtic:

                            1. The aggregate score for the 4 prior fixtures was 15-1 in Celtic's favour.
                            2. Hearts had lost 13 out of their last 15 fixtures against Celtic.
                            3. Hearts most recent league victory against Celtic was in 2011.

That 1st St Johnstone goal was a f@cking peach

3 very good goals to be fair
