  • I "managed" a lassies team for a couple of seasons.

Compared to the average amateur men's team it needed a fair bit more dedication from the quines.
For a start the away games were all over Scotland, not only did this mean early starts on a Sunday morning, it took a hell of a lot more fund raising to pay for mini bus hire etc.

Skill wise? we probably struggled to have 11 decent players but then on the other hand we had a quine who would win the keepie uppy competition in training, easily reaching three figures.

I've played in teams where the winner might have got three, never mind three figures.

One went to Italy to play professionally, one went on to play for Scotland.

They were all fitba daft, it's good to see their game being more widely recognised but equal as a financial thing?
    Nah.

I remember that. Hidna seen you for years and one day, walking through Seaton Park I thought, "There's a familiar blonde-haired slightly-balding* mannie that I ken."

I always think that I was heading for Pittodrie, but surely you didna give up a thriller v Motherwell to coach some quines?

      • Nah, the quines would have been going to the match.

Both Aberdeen Ladies and Theologians trained at Seaton Park one pre-season evening.
Ended up in a Loons V Quines , could it have been then? (probably summer 1985)

        * and you can bugger off with the Brian Glover comment, great film though.

Edit: just watched the "Kes" match on YouTube....great stuff.

        • Later than 85, I’d think. I was still biding in Orchard Street then*, and the St Machar Bar was as far west as I ever needed to travel.

*We flitted to Cairncry the day that we gave the 9-man huns a 3-0 shoeing at The Midden which was 85, but I’d have even less need to have been in Seaton Park

          • Definately nae later that 1985 if it was the quines.

Could have been the famous University Communist Party team RED STAR, they played like a bunch of quines.

Well, apart fae myself and Brochred of course.

Edit: This isn't true, we had a fair few decent players in that team.

            • The pre season quines training would have been 1984 going into the 84/85 season.

Prior to that summer I was biding in the Spital, above the shoppie, one down from The Beastie and across the road from the chipper,
that added to the proximity to Pittodrie made it an ideal first time buy. ( the dry rot was a problem though)

Obviously nae close enough because my next flat was in Merkland Road East

              • Cheatin' Beaton gives Sevco a late penalty.
You wonder what the point is.

                • I’m glad I didn’t see flairs being let off by the hun at the start of the game because that would have meant a fine for rangers.

Just as well nobody else would have seen them either.

                  • Tinpot amateurs.

Dundee United's home game with Celtic will go ahead on Sunday with a reduced capacity after storm damage at Tannadice.

                        • …and tonight’s SPFL Mystery Decision - Celtic’s ‘goal’ v Hearts.

“These things even themselves up [on behalf of two clubs, like] over the length of 24 hours, or something”, of course.

                          • You made me go and look at that, you could have warned me that I’d have to hear that nauseating weegie bitch.

                            “ claims for offside, debatable”

                            Debatable my f’uckin a’rse.

                            • If they are just going to have biased opinions on that dross programme they should just employ one of us to be a pundit.

                              • I don't think they see it as biased.

As long as they almost even up the decisions between Celtic and The The The Rangers then they see that as being even handed.

The fact that Celtic have a chip on their shoulder because they are only number two in the cheating league table is hilarious.
