My record sharpest exit from Pittodrie. Lived in Ellon at the time and I was at Balmedie by the time the 5th went in. I was gone after 3.Originally posted by sheepcrooky View PostDid he not play centre half in McGhoo’s first game against Sigma Olomuk with Derek Young right back ? I was lucky enough to be on holiday for that game and checking my phone for updates.
Defence was Mulgrew, Considine, Duff, Foster(I think) Our team was seriously bad then. McDonald and Kerr. Mackie, Maguire, Young.

Possibly the lowest point ever. I know the entertainment value is low right now (but I am still going to Porkheid on Saturday because i’m hopeful), but those days were seriously rank.Originally posted by Pacman1903 View PostMy record sharpest exit from Pittodrie. From what I recall I’m sure Derek Young was playing right back and Foster was in midfield.Originally posted by Pacman1903 View PostMy record sharpest exit from Pittodrie. Lived in Ellon at the time and I was at Balmedie by the time the 5th went in. I was gone after 3.

Only 14000 at the game too, surprising considering so many people wanted McGhee as the manager and it was a European game.

Langfield, Mulgrew, Foster, McDonald, Considine, Kerr, Aluko (Paton 73), Young, Duff, Miller, Mackie (Maguire 60).Originally posted by Pacman1903 View PostMy record sharpest exit from Pittodrie. Lived in Ellon at the time and I was at Balmedie by the time the 5th went in. I was gone after 3.

Subs Not Used: Nelson, Crawford, Holm, Megginson, Ross.
I don't think any of them would get into our current team, with the exception of Considine who is obviously still hanging around, and probably Aluko. I do remember all the players, with the exception of Holm... who was he? Ross I take it was Maurice Ross? Dire stuff.

The lad Holm - was he not an u-21 Faroese international?
I could be talking crap of course

No, quite correct. Rogvi Holm, one season at Aberdeen with no appearances. Signed when captain of Faroese U-19s. Think it was the EE who ran a 'bound for stardom' article on him. Went back to play for Torshavn.Originally posted by RedStarTorphins View PostThe lad Holm - was he not an u-21 Faroese international?

Tommy White, who played as centre forward (Proper Mannies’) for us in the first Dons match I attended, has died aged 80.
We swapped Don Kerrigan for him with Hearts, but he was little better than Kerrigan. I think he went to Crystal Palace along with John McCormick later that season, and seemed to do OK.
His brother was John White of Spurs and Scotland, just before my time, but whose early accidental death (hit by lightning whilst playing golf) I can remember being big news, probably in 1964.
