His contract ended and he choose not to sit a new one as was his right. Do you think Bournemouth extended all the contracts of players they were happy to free. If he had signed a short term contract to play to the end of the season and picked up an injury which would take 2 years to recover Bournemouth wouldn’t be offering to extend his contract.

I think they would have TBH.Originally posted by Basingstokered View PostHis contract ended and he choose not to sit a new one as was his right. In any event, I'm pretty sure if he'd played in those few games there could've been insurance put in place.
The optics of it are very bad and it's hard to defend Fraser.

This was a club that helped raise his profile and make him a millionaire. Bournemouth also benefitted from his career over the past few years as well.Originally posted by Basingstokered View PostHis contract ended and he choose not to sit a new one as was his right. But, the team and team-mates and fans he had been a big part of for four years were dismissed in their great time of need. He has clearly been looking run his contract down (as is his right) for months and the enforced gap in football just highlighted his greed.
And now he is “not fit enough” to be selected for Scotland and asked to be not considered. A shambles.

How many other players refused to sign a short extension down south?Originally posted by Basingstokered View PostHis contract ended and he choose not to sit a new one as was his right. I can only think of the Charlton lad - the vast, vast majority did it.
The boy’s a dick, pure & simple - fuuck him...

Wouldn’t the insurance only cover him for the period of the extended contract ?Originally posted by InversneckieDob View PostI think they would have TBH.

If he did get a serious injury Bournemouth would have let him go as if they’d been relegated with their finances they will likely be in serious problems. If they don’t get straight back up parachute payments only last a couple years and there’s plenty of bigger teams that have struggled financially.
At thee do the day it’s a job for him and everyone of us would do the same to set himself and his family up for life.

Not sure you'd be so understanding if he played for us and we were relegated.Originally posted by Basingstokered View PostWouldn’t the insurance only cover him for the period of the extended contract ?

He's looking like someone that had zero loyalty for the two clubs he's played for.

Loyalty is a two way street clubs can’t complain when every year they release players at the start of their careers and end of their careers. They could have sold him at any point during the contract but didn’t. Perfect example Jordan Ibe was garbage for them and they’ve not extended his contract.Originally posted by Aldo1983 View PostNot sure you'd be so understanding if he played for us and we were relegated.

I always thought people on here didn’t like Bournemouth as they’re what’s wrong with the modern game spend out with their resources, but now they’ve been relegated it appears people are upset.

Ryan Fraser was offered an improved contract by Bournemouth, he is already a millionaire. He admitted himself he was not giving his all for the club in the first half of the season, then would not play in their plight for survival. He comes across as money grabbing bar steward. He is already set up for life. Hopefully his career dwindles from this point.

I'm not a great one for hounding players just because they leave (depending on how they leave, obviously), and I thought at the time Fraser was well within his rights to move to Bournemouth given they were on the up, the quality of the coaching and facilities, etc. But perhaps I was wrong - he certainly has come out of this with little credit.
