  • Their team did slightly better than Scotland's at the Euros
Have they lost their eye for talent?

Good for us if it raises the standard of technique in Scottish players.

Can't say I know anything about the loon other than the very brief appearances we saw last season.

I'm just concerned we are going to try and knock square pegs into round holes with our lack of wide options.

Just have to hope JT is a bit of an alchemist when it comes to players.
Journals on Friday made out he was virtually guaranteed to play on Saturday - was surprised when he wasn’t even in the squad.

Couldn't have been down to fitness as he would be well ahead of the rest of the players.

Possibly just assessing him upon his return from Norway and figuring out how he can use him.

JT is probably hoping some of our existing players are good enough on the flanks as will be a key area and finding better appears to be difficult.

Aberdeen reportedly tracking Ghanaian centre-back Nurudeen Abdulai

By Sean Wallace July 25 2024, 8:21 am

Aberdeen are reportedly tracking Ghanaian defender Nurudeen Abdulai with the view to a potential summer transfer window move.

The highly rated 19-year-old has won Ghana Premier League with Medeama SC.

Abdulai has also recently been called up to the Ghana national team.

Reports in Ghana claim Aberdeen are preparing a bid for the defender who is also being tracked by clubs in England, Denmark and Norway.

Abdulai has made 57 appearances for Ghanaian champions Medeama SC scoring four goals.

The defender played in the group stages of the CAF Champions League last season.

Abdulai played a pivotal role in Medeama SC winning the Ghana Premier League for the first time in the club’s history in the 2022/23 season.

The centre-back was selected for the Ghana squad that faced Madagascar and Comoros in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November last year.

He was was an unused substitute in both games.

Abdulai was included in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations provisional squad but missed out with a shoulder injury.

I think Che Adams is well beyond help!

                • Burns in Record saying Hoilett won’t be back. Shame if true.

Junior Hoilett won’t be returning to Aberdeen.

The Dons offered the veteran winger a new deal at the end of the season but 34-year-old stalled on the extension while he was away on international duty with Canada. New Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin then decided to move on to other targets when he stepped into the Pittodrie post and the initial offer had been rejected. It left Hoilett without a club again. The attacker then suffered an injury that cost him his place with the Canadians at Copa America.

The veteran has since been fighting to get back to full fitness and has options in Scotland and England. Hoilett moved to Aberdeen on a short-term contract under Neil Warnock last season and the former Blackburn star came to the fore at the end of the Premiership campaign with a number of assists. Dons staff recommended to Thelin about offering Hoilett a deal. That was agreed but the Swede decided to quickly move on when an agreement couldn’t be reached.

Yes and no, he's top quality but at 34 we'd get one season out of him, albeit a very good one...hopefully he wasn't our only target.

Two more wingers would be great, one at the very least.

                    • Rumours on Twitter that Hoilet is signing for Hibs.

Thought the guy was class and even if his legs were going you could certainly use his footballing intelligence in the team and a real threat from set pieces.

Think he played a huge part in our relatively strong finish to last season.

We move on though, but would have liked to have seen him back.

                      • Espanyol have apparently had an offer rejected by the club for Miovski.

It also alleges the club want £6.5 million for him.

We need this sorted soon as we can't have a player of his calibre not playing if available.

Surely with the silly money that is thrown around these days in the football world the club should be sticking a bigger price-tag than that on Miovski, we should pushing for at least 8mill in my humble opinion.

I think they take a while and add in the hun factor, it could be we end up with tuppence in the pound.
