FFS why? On the basis of his stellar managerial career?? He must have suitors fighting amongst themselves for this genius who got sacked by Doncaster in 2015. He's really picked up from then, as by managing no-one at all he has not experienced any further sackings.Originally posted by easynow View PostPaul Dickov would be a good shout
Have you unearthed any other gems?

I'd be happy with him.Originally posted by Redbull666 View PostI doubt that's much different from when we weren't such a basket case of a club. If O'Neill does take the job, he's probably as good a candidate reputation and experience wise that we could attract full stop.
Somehow I don't see it happening.

Trouble is ANY manager who thinks he could get a job in the Championship, would consider anything but Rangers and Celtic as not worth their while. Unless they have real belief in themselves that they could make such success of the job that it would enhance their reputation.Originally posted by TheDeeDon View PostI'd be happy with him.

Mark Fotheringham being seriously considered apparently. Not sure if the media are putting that down to the fact he was a coach in Germany and the independent review was done by a German company?
Only other experience as a manager was at Huddersfield where he got fired after 5 wins in 21 games,Kenny Miller was his assistant which will be why he was raving about him on the radio at the weekend.

He's in the record today bemoaning not being approached for any of the SPL sides, most notably Aberdeen. He says his CV is superior to Glass/Goodwin/Robson. He's been assistant here and there, including at Fulham and Berlin where he worked under Felix Magath and was sought out by Jürgen Klinsmann to assist with the South Korean national team. Obviously he's pretty well respected in Germany. Sounds like Huddersfield were a bit of a mess (as he was ironically replaced by Warnock who was then sacked himself) and taken over just before they binned Fotheringham. He's got a point about having more experience than Glass and Robson certainly.Originally posted by rico94 View PostMark Fotheringham being seriously considered apparently. Not sure if the media are putting that down to the fact he was a coach in Germany and the independent review was done by a German company?

He’s got more experience than Glass and Robson because they had never been a manager before they got appointed.Originally posted by Redbull666 View PostHe's in the record today bemoaning not being approached for any of the SPL sides, most notably Aberdeen. But 21 games as a manager isn’t really something to brag about,it would be going down the route of another rookie manager which isn’t what we need imo.

Just no!!! No more rookie managers we need someone with experience next time. He may well end up being a good manager but let him go prove that somewhere elseOriginally posted by Redbull666 View PostHe's in the record today bemoaning not being approached for any of the SPL sides, most notably Aberdeen. Fotheringham has so much to prove before he is considered for a SPL job. We need someone with experience as our record with going with inexperienced managers has been dreadful. Glass and Robson as examples. Not too sure about Robinson as it is very similar to the Goodwin appointment.
A few Scandinavian candidates that seem to have good pedigree but I am not sure they would come.
Rodriguez always had my attention and would love for that still to happen but he is currently in a job.
Interesting couple of weeks ahead, just hope I am not disappointed at the end of it.

Robinson now would be a better prospect than Goodwin was when we got him from St Mirren. I’m not saying he’s the right appointment though but I do think the next manager has to be an experienced one and will have to have had experience in our league. We’ve messed about trying to be too clever for a few years now and it’s got us close to a relegation playoff spot.

Yeah, his 'pedigree' for want of a better word is mainly as an assistant manager, which he appears to have had some success with.Originally posted by Red Zone View PostJust no!!! He'd be a decent shout for Motherwell, St Mirren, Dundee etc but it's been pretty much proven that the Aberdeen job is too demanding for a rookie.

The Fotheringham link just won't go away. It's amazing when the hun media have an agenda they keep pushing it.
For that alone we should avoid at all costs.
I'm sure if Kenny Miller (who I wouldn't want near our club) wasn't pushing for him we wouldn't have heard of the guy.

If there was a Craig Brown type at the club for a rookie manager to gain knowledge from, then I wouldn't have an issue with going down that route again. The structure throughout the club has to be good though before we consider that route again.Originally posted by Redbull666 View PostYeah, his 'pedigree' for want of a better word is mainly as an assistant manager, which he appears to have had some success with.

We also need a manager strong enough to push back on any pressure on the day to day running of team affairs, which may come down from those up top.
