I could be wrong but Im sure I read somewhere that his family were planning to move over here this summer.Originally posted by Shetland Don View PostThe only thing that worries me is that Jimmy will end up missing his wife and children and becoming homesick as they all still reside in Sweden due to schooling etc.

Burrows did an interview this week where he was talking about Thelin being here for the next 3 to 5 years.Originally posted by RED_JOHN View PostSave a commitment to an area. Our managerial position at Aberdeen FC isn?t known for stability.
I appreciate that if we are struggling at the bottom of the league then he would likely lose his job but Im afraid you are going to have to accept the fact that he is going to be with us for a while.

Nicked off Twitter, from a Gus Tawse but for those not at the Q&A thing yesterday...
It was a strange feeling immediately after winning the cup. Chaos when Mitov was waiting for confirmation it was over, and then he couldn?t believe they?d won. Everyone at the club believed all week that we could win. He doesn?t think about the fact that he?s the first non-Scottish manager to win the cup, because everyone involved won, not him. He doesn?t ever want a statue.
Jimmy considered changing the formation for the league game against Celtic prior to the final, but wanted to save it for an element of surprise. He didn?t name the lineup until two hours before kickoff, but the players would?ve known in the days leading up to the final due to the set piece work. The build up on the day of the final wasn?t much different to any game, other than showing good luck videos to the players. He tried not to add too much emotion to get the players too worked up.
Nobody had asked him before tonight what happened when it looked like Palaversa had been substituted only for him to come back on. He said there was something wrong with the paperwork submitted and that it was chaos. He only realised when he turned round and saw Ante sitting on the bench and wondered if he?d made a mistake.
What surprised Jimmy the most about his first season in Scotland was how quickly teams would get players into the box for crosses, and how good they are at set pieces. He accepts that we conceded more from set pieces than expected, and we need to mark or block players better. Too many late goals were lost from corners or thrown ins. When asked why we don?t leave anyone upfield when defending a corner, he said that there are different ways to defend a corner and not a right and a wrong. He said there may be surprises in the future and maybe small adjustments.
Jimmy prefers to keep a consistent way of playing because it makes it easier for young players to slot into the first team if they play a system they?re used to. It also makes it easier to recruit players when a clear plan is in place. The three year plan is in place so that big turnarounds around needed every year. Players will still leave but hopefully only for the right reasons, and this is when young players can make the step up.
This leads to Jimmy being asked why young players aren?t being given more of a chance. He said that they are changing things to help close the gap. The more stable the core is, the easier it is for young players to blend in. Fletcher Boyd is a totally different player to twelve months ago. Jack Milne is growing due to getting more time and confidence. Interestingly, he said that you can?t teach anyone who isn?t willing to do the work.
A new coach will be coming in soon, to act as a transition coach between the first team and youth academy.
The cup win hasn?t impacted the project as the plan was always to get into Europe after the first season. The second season is to stabilise and use the belief from the cup win to push us forward and push on in the third season. The club are increasing the volume in training to prepare for the rigours of Thursday-Sunday. They?ll work on mental capacity to switch off when there are short breaks between matches. They?ll ensure that performance levels don?t drop too much, and they can find other ways to get the points.
When asked about how the recruitment process works, Jimmy explained that a profile is built of every position in the team, and what is expected of players who play in each position. The recruitment team and scouts are aware of what we have in the academy. Then they look at players in Scotland, before looking further afield. They put players wanted into categories and then the coaching staff sit down with Cormack, Burrows and Gunn to discuss who they would like to bring in, before deciding which targets to go for. Every signing has to benefit the club in the long term.
Steven Gunn has a presentation video he shows potential signings, highlighting the club and the city. Jimmy then talks to them to make them believe in the project.
When asked how we are looking to meet the UEFA home grown mandate, Jimmy conceded that we won?t have a full squad this season but we will in future years. He says he likes to work with young players because they have more energy and more consistency. Players want to come to win things and use the club as a springboard for their career. Without naming names, he said not to read too much into the first two games of new players. They will adapt and change.
The most pertinent question was left until last - will we have new players in before the end of the transfer window. He said that he doesn?t want to say too much but hopefully a few things will happen.
There were questions where we got to see the lighter side of Jimmy. We found out:
-He hasn?t been out for a drink since the cup final
-His idol was Diego Maradona
-He wanted to be a farmer, like his grandfather?s brother
-He likes haggis and butteries
-Hoose means house in Swedish as well as Scottish
-The people are his favourite thing about the city of Aberdeen
-He struggled the first week of driving on the left hand side of the road
-He loves the passion of Aberdeen fans, especially the effort put into flags and tifos, and following the club away from home.
