  • Dundee United v Aberdeen

Well well well I am nae sure what has happened to our Match Thread Starter Swaddon2. Probably much the same as the rest of us and still in a state of shock as to what the actual fcuk is going on with our club.

Anyway Thelin takes his bunch of under performing losers to Tannadump on Tuesday for what is yet another must win game. With this shocking run we are on every single game is a must win from now on in or it has to be P45 time for the Swede.

Hope to fk I am wrong but I just canna see us getting anything from this game tomorrow.
2-0 the jutes (at best) and surely tatties oor the side for Jimmy.

Hope he proves me wrong but I jist canna see it

Interesting interview from Mitov after Saturdays result.

Basically saying its the players fault and nothing to do with Thelin, suggesting that some of the players arent trying.

I noticed after the cup final Mitov got interviewed and said Thelin was the best coach he has ever played for.

It looks like Thelin has some players onside but possibly not others?

Would make sense with the way we are playing.

      Not shock, just apathy.

The DABs seem to be doing well under that clown Goodwin, and that will continue with a routine 3-0 win for the home side. A team full of drunks cobbled together from outside a pub on a Friday night could beat us with no problem.

In fact, if I was manager of Dundee United, I would take them all out for a pre-match bevvy on Tuesday, just to prove my theory.

Only a big defeat would see him sacked this week, even then I doubt Gnasher would pull the trigger.

What a place to start the season though and we will win at some point.

        0-1 Lazetic

Same again on Saturday and against Dundee the following Sunday.

9 points from three games and panic over!

Wish I shared your optimism pal but I just canna see it. But like I said I hope beyond hope that they go on to prove me wrong.
Either that or maybe we should have just given the job to Neil Lennon all along

I suspect that those in the team closest to Dante (and others not getting enough game time) but whose positions are not directly threatened may be causing a subtle (the effort seems to be there but perhaps not, may I suggest, the extra 2% that wins games) but negative influence!? Can?t see us avoiding defeat in either of the next two games - regrettably, as I really want this to be a success.

Polvara possibly could be one of the guys that isnt buying into Thelins vision.

There is an argument for Polvara that he deserves more of a run in the team than Thelin seems to be giving him.

But on the other hand he has been here for almost 5 years and has played under 6 different managers with only Leven in his caretaker spell playing him regularly.

I dont mind Polvara and would be happy for him to get a longer run in the team but if all of those different managers dont see him as a first pick then the chances are he just isnt good enough.

After what Thelin and Mitov have openly stated about the players it will be very interesting in seeing how they all react tommorow evening at Tannadice. If they go about their business very similar to what has been witnessed so far this season then it will be obvious the manager and his players are not suited to each other.
Thelin has claimed his tactics are not the problem and it is just really the basics of football that his players are not delivering on (his ABC spiel).

Hopefully everyone ups their game and gets the result we desperately need. If not, the pressure on Jimmy Thelin is going to obviously increase dramatically.

When Polvara was signed the best thing to happen to him,was to have loaned him out to a championship team, ti get him used to our game.

Has a lot of very good attributes, but can anyone tell where his best position in the team is?

I'm just catching up with the Thelin and Mitov interviews over the weekend and can't help but feel the end is in sight for Jimmy.

If the players aren't buying into his 'system' then it usually only ends one way.

                    JT?s presser today

When asked about conversations with the board given the side's poor run of form, he said: "Football is a sport of results. I still have dialogue with the CEO Alan [Burrows] and the chairman [Dave Cormack] every day. Nothing has changed in our dynamic."
He speaks to Dave every day? This is not an excuse to kick Cormack, I’m glad they have a good relationship but it’s runs like these where we need a DOF. Dave only has experience as a Chairman and at AFC. Burrows flogs tickets.

Of course it’s still Dave whose appointing said DOF so hopefully he gets it right first time.

In the past I might have pooh poohed the need for a DOF but the game has changed and with this player trading model there needs to be a clearer focus. We’re spending hundreds of thousands on players for the future rather than the team now (Frame, Kjartansson, Bilalovic?).

I hate to give The Tourist any credence but he was right about the mess behind the scenes. Over a year on and just as bad.

None of this excuses JT, he should still be doing a lot better, but our managers are only getting backed by money, they always have to overcome the mess of previous incumbents and our muddled model.

I was looking at his time at Elfsborg today and didnt realise how poorly he started off. They were only 4 points off the relegation zone in his first season and finished mid table in his second season. It wasnt until his third season that he got them up at the top end of league and they seemed to be challenging for the title after that.

This will be why Thelin and Cormack keep going on about it being a 3 year plan but he will never get to that stage if we dont improve soon.

We might see Cormack digging his heels in and try to give him more time because he has backed him so much in the transfer market.Thats a huge risk if we continue to struggle living in the hope that it will all click into place next season.

Fair enough if we were winning games here and there but if we dont win any of our next 3 league games we will be in serious trouble.

Realise in seeing that now posted it reads like we?ve never had a DOF. To my mind we haven?t.
                        Gunn had the title only.

Think we?re all living in hope.

I hope the rumours of the players not buying in and him having lost some of them is incorrect. If true it only ends one way.

Huge month, international break seems obvious place to assess and take action if needs be but like you I think Cormack will give him into next year regardless.

So far we’ve not been thumped in the league, kept it to 2. I’m dreading Europe. Pittodrie is already getting a bit ugly. I’d hate to see it turn really toxic. He seems a really nice guy, be easier if he were a tosser.

                          JUST WIN ALREADY!!

Apparently there is an interview on redtv from Thelin going on about seeing a different performance from the team tomorrow.

I havent seen it but it’s been implied that certain players have been told to pull the finger out and stop sulking, probably in a nicer way from Thelin.

I heard a rumour today about issues within the squad but will wait to see what happens tomorrow night to decide if it’s worth mentioning.

Basically if the effort and performance doesnt improve tomorrow night then the comments from Thelin and Mitov in the last few days would suggest that we are in a worrying situation squad wise.
