  • Romared Match Thoughts Barnsley v York City

Well we take a break from league action and a poor run of form and switch our thoughts to the FA cup .

Anyone thinking things got a little easier tomorrow at home against 5th tier opposition should probably think again .

This tie has got cup upset written all over it , York are a handy 7th in the National League and I'm pretty certain they will be well backed .

This is no cup tie against a bunch of 8th tier postmen , electricians and bricklayers that's for sure .

I'll be nervously keeping tabs on the score , we are at the new Everton stadium tomorrow to watch the 2nd ashes rugby league test .

I'm not expecting too much joy in that either .

Come on Reds and England give me a better weekend this week please .

I am expecting a very tough game , there will be probably more away fans than home fans and that could be key, I expect Conor to put out a strong team with a view of trying to win the game, the financial rewards of getting through are important and the fans need a lift so a win is important but from a personal point of view I am finding it hard to get interested, I have my season ticket and count my self as a very loyal fan but I shall not be attending , the F.A Cup has lost its magic for me , the bigger clubs rarely show it any respect and the rot set in years ago for me , I of course want us to win and will be keeping an eye on the score but if we lose it will not effect my mood and by the same token if we win it will be the same , I think we will get through by the odd goal but also I would not be surprised if we slip up , I have seen it all before .

I'm with animal on this one! Upset written all over it, Russell plays in the centre, DKD up front with Farugia Left and Cleary right, with Bland at right back.
A bit of tinkering again by Conor, but these will be no Mugs with Pearce up front who scores lots of goals, with Banks just behind him pulling strings.
We should have enough to see them off, but they need to go into this not thinking we just have to turn up, like we did against Rotherham!

I'm listening the game on BBC and this is embarrassing! 1-0 down and being absolutely battered by York, it's a non stop onslaught by them and we have no answer whatsoever.

H/T 1-1, since we equalised we have taken a bit of control.
Ogbeta off, Watson on and Bland to left back? I wondered what the hell this was about but it seems to have worked!
Playing much better now, thank god, but we were well under the cosh.

Won 3-2 and listening to it I honestly don't know how? They battered us for 30 mins in the first half and 20 mins of the second half!
The finishing was the difference, York had 3 1 on 1s with Cooper and just couldn't finish!
I would be gutted if I was a York fan, the times they got behind our defence was laughable.

Listened to the game on the radio so don’t want to comment too much. Sounds like we rode our luck at times but glad we’ve got through into the next round.

Speaking of listening to it on the radio. I had to listen to the York radio commentary and talk about biased. It felt like we barely got a mention and they were playing like peak Brazil, Barcelona and Real Madrid rolled into one. When we scored our goals it was “oh it is in” with no mention of who actually scored and how the goal came about. Poor really.

Donny away next. Let’s hope we can get winning run together.

I did not watch it and the radio commentary was so biased I only gave it 5 minutes as I couldn"t stand any more therefore I cannot comment on the match or individual performances , what I can say is what I said in my earlier comments this morning which is that I thought it would be a tough call and we might scrape through by the odd goal which appears to have come true , it is all about the result and the revenue for getting through, the cup has lost it for me and personally my interest in the competition has gone, however my interest in our club will never wain and I am delighted we have won the match, well done lads.

Most important thing is we are through to round 2 , it was never going to be a stroll in the park no matter whether we were on a good run of form or not so job done .

On a personal note really enjoyed visiting the new Everton stadium this afternoon , the actual stadium itself is really impressive and we gave Australia a far harder game than we did last week despite the defeat .
