Shocking first half but much improved second. After we equalised I thought we would go on to win the game but I guess a point stops the run of defeats.

I thought the goal and overall performance again of Phillips shows why he should be playing further up the pitch, not further backwards. He is a goal threat so why are we playing him defensive midfield? Baffling. I guess for the next 3 games though he will be playing deep with Bland due to Connell?s red card though. Luca was playing well too but that reaction was incredibly stupid and he is lucky that it didn?t cost us the point.

On to Port Vale now. I really hope Hourihane has learnt something from our league defeat and the embarrassing cup hammering we received from them.

I'm thinking work on some things in training and try and come up with a game plan for Anfield with some fresher legs .

I'm far from expecting to win the tie but I'd like to give Liverpool at least a game and not embarrass ourselves , a fighting 2-0 defeat will do me .

I'm extremely worried we could get hit for 7 or 8 .

Yeah it will be interesting to see what happens with the Port Vale game.

We have had a couple of premier league hammerings in the last 2 seasons so yeah hopefully we can at least compete. I feel like Liverpool will go quite strong in terms of selection as it is probably the only trophy they can win now. Somehow, we need to try and be defensively strong and resolute. Have we got it in us though?
