  • Romared Match Thoughts Reading v Barnsley

Hopefully last week's victory over Blackpool off the back of a very good performance at Anfield is a sign of better days ahead and a push up the table .

With games in hand this could be a very interesting second half of the season and a win tomorrow afternoon would do wonders .

    Fingers crossed .

3 points tomorrow would be very welcome indeed. We need to build on the last 2 performances and push on big time. But we are playing Saturday and Tuesday for the next few weeks to come also. The squad will be put its full use over these coming weeks and the players need to be ready and hit the ground running too. But we need 2 or 3 strikers to come in. And I still feel that we need someone with a bit of maturity for the middle of the park. And at least one more center half. But I?m full of hope that we will get a result tomorrow.

The last 2 games have given us all a mini boost and hopefully it has boosted our confidence enough to go to Reading and get a decent result, at one time of the day I used to dread this fixture coming around possibly because I was at Reading when we shipped 7 , the day didn"t improve as I went back to my van to find I had a flat tyre and notification of a parking ticket under my wipers , it was arguably my worst ever day watching the Reds and after that we have suffered some poor results against the Royals but in recent times we have done really well and hopefully this upturn continues , I always fancy us on the road but Reading are in good form and with this in mind I will take a point now , we will see.

Well Shads we got the point you would be happy with and to be fair I am happy with it as well as it keeps the unbeaten run going, which can only inspire confidence.
The game itself was up and down, you could see why Reading have been doing well, we were slow getting going 1st half but got going for 30 mins 2nd half.
I was hoping we could hold on at 2-1 but when Yogi came on for Phillips who was great today, I just knew we would concede!
As it happened Yogi comes steaming into the box, gets the ball trapped between his feet and it lands nicely for Marriott.
As you can probably tell I am not a big fan of Yogi and don't like it when he plays it makes us weaker!

I agree with you that Yoga should have cleared the danger for there second goal but despite the disappointment of conceding late I thought the draw was a fair result especially as we seemed to be playing both Reading and the officials who at best were shocking , there were some positives to take and I certainly think the injury to Shepherd did us no favours. Regarding Yoga whilst I think he seems to be finding it hard at the moment I believe we should be a little tolerant with him as he is still learning his trade and will make mistakes , also I believe if Connel had been available he would not have got near the pitch , we are unbeaten in the league in 2026 and long may that continue , we will see !!!

I didn't see the game so I can't really comment other than a good away point and we move on to Cardiff on Tuesday night which will be a stern test .

We look so much better without Connell, unfortunately he will play again because of the schedule and that he's the captain.
I just think Yogi is about 3 years away from being effective in this league, he's just not ready in his physique and knowhow,, he needs to go back to national league for a couple of loan spells.

We have different opinions there on Mr Connel Perky, first name on the sheet for me and we have missed him, I think if he had played yesterday Reading would not have got a second, Yoga"s inexperience cost us that goal where Connel would have dealt with it , I also think Liverpool would not have scored their first if Connel had been playing , no one in front of the back four went anywhere near to closing down the lad and he was left with the freedom of Anfield to pick his spot , I believe that is Connel territory all day long and he would have at least make a challenge but hey ho it is all about opinions and I totally respect yours .

I think a point was probably a fair result in the end. I felt like their subs improved them whereas I don’t think ours did. Good away point but a bit disappointing to concede the equaliser.

Cardiff up next will be tough but let’s hope we can show some resilience in the back line. Connell comes straight into the team for me. I wonder if DKD will start too. McGoldrick has played well the last 2 games so a decision to be made for Hourihane.
