  • SBRed Match Thoughts Cardiff City v Barnsley

A tough assignment to say the least , a point would be a good outcome but we will have to be on it .

Games are going to start to come thick and fast now and a real test of the squads abilities .

Interesting to see where we will be in the table in 6 weeks time .

I fancy us to come away with at least a point , there is nothing I can say that justifies my optimism its just a gut feeling , hopefully Shepherd is fit and if he is not I would like to see Roberts slot in and with a refreshed captain back available I feel we will have more nouce in the engine room , we will see.

Connell back in the side, gives the ball away with sloppy play after 2 minutes and Cardiff score!
What the hell does Conor see in him? We play so much better when he isn't in the team.

We are in so much trouble here, they are using a very high pressure and for some unknown reason, Conor has put Shepherd at left back and Watson in the centre? You can see it's not working already especially with Ogbeta on the bench!
I'd take Connell off now he's been dire! They are also double up on Cleary so our one tactic is nullified.

Connell loses ball AGAIN 2-0 Cardiff.
I hope Wycombe come back in for him in this window!
They should be down to 10 men but we have yet another bad ref.

Cardiff should be down to 10 men, unbelievable Jeff that a second yellow not given.

Goodman should have done better on both goals conceded IMO

                  Mid table team we are.

We will be lucky to stay up at this rate! Don't get me wrong I didn't expect anything here tonight, but christ don't give em a leg up before the game starts? Shepherd left back and Watson in the centre? I've had enough of hearing he's a new manager and learning, he's had enough time now to know basic rubbish like that!
Why does Connell get straight back into the team, we have been doing better without him! Facts don't lie, apart from Liverpool every game he's missed we haven't lost and look how we played at anfield.

Said out loud 3-0 so much space and quickly became reality.

                      Good night

4-0 yet another gift from Connell, said enough on him tonight!

That performance last night was embarrassing and I feel sorry for the fans that travelled to Cardiff.

The defending for the goals was criminal but then that is not surprising given how this season has gone. I also have zero idea what the tactics and formation was for the first 20 odd minutes. Pretty sure we weren’t playing with a left back but if we were, whoever it was meant to be didn’t do a very good job.

Cardiff could have had as many as they wanted last night if they had pushed until the end.

Although I will say that the ref absolutely bottled the, what should have been, a second yellow card. Not sure how much difference it would have made though but I guess we will never know.

Stevenage up next at home is another tough game and one we are probably going to struggle in. They are solid in defence and will be fighting for everything. 2 things we simply do not do.

Truly awful performance last night and yes the latest scapegoat Connel had a very poor game but he wasn"t on his own despite everyone putting the blame on him, to me there was only one player in our midfield who came out with any credit and that was Bland but amazingly he got subbed , the teams set up especially the defence was bizarre from the off , the goalkeeper should have done a lot better with at least 2 of the goals and with McGoldrick injured it highlighted how we weak are up top, Clearey got injured and DKD worked his nuts off with no supply and very little support , Philips was as bad as Connel and Kelly despite a bright start went missing , it was a shocking performance but hey ho all Connor has to do is get rid of Connel and all our problems will be gone , it is all his fault , remember we beat Blackpool without him so losing away at the top of the league has to be entirely down to him !!! Footnote: When we drive Connel out of the club there will be fans moaning we should get ?millions for him( watch this space ) , you can not make it up !!

Sorry Shad but Connell was by far the worst player on the pitch! Don't get me wrong but others helped with p1ss poor effort and play.
Connell not only helped with 3 of the 4 goals we conceeded but he was miles off with his positioning and general game management, he looked like he'd been out for 6 months and devoid of energy!
Personally I think the team looks stronger without him in it, i don't want millions for him just let him go for nothing and free up a wage, he has not been the same player since his illness and the loss of Kane who gave him more of a free role.
