  • The Future Of This Board

There are justifiable reasons why the board isn't what it once was , it was never packed with posters even in it's hay day but that in itself made it unique , had it's own identity and was a real community .

However in recent years we've lost Exiletyke , Roma and SBRed to that place above who were all real characters , significant contributors who kept the board ticking over .

We've lost Jules , Barnsley Chop and Pass n Move too these last 12 months who I suspect felt that the board had run it's course which is fair enough .

The club it's self obviously hasn't helped with yet another poor campaign and interest in the club on a downward spiral .

To be honest I've only kept coming on because of the obligation I've had to oversee the Predictions League and given yesterday was the final game I've decided to end my time on here too .

I wish everyone who still posts on here my best wishes for the future and I sincerely hope the club can be a success in the future too .

Its a sad day Animal but you do not have to be Mystic Meg to see how things were panning out, I myself have not been a member for that long but have really tried to engage as much as possible, with the fact that 99% of threads were and are about the Reds always appealed to me , we all have different opinions but all of us share a love for our club, I recently started a couple of threads to try and generate some activity but no one commented on either which made me think that interest was nearly zero and this board was on its last legs which is sad but as they say " it is what it is ". Regarding yourself Animal you can only look back with pride on the time and effort you have put in to generating interest and activity for everyone with you being a major contributor and stalwart of this forum you can hold your head up high , as you say in recent times we have lost some of our most dedicated contributors who are all sadly missed and things have steadily deteriorated and I also will call it a day. I of course will continue to support the club we all love, last week I renewed myself and my grandsons season tickets for another year , how many more seasons I have left in me depends on my health etc but after 65 years of attending it is simply a way of life to me , at the moment we are on a downward direction but watching the Reds has always been a roller coaster so I have no doubt that eventually we will once again be on an upward trend ,now whether I am still here to witness those times is another matter lol !!! , anyway to everyone on here who I have total respect for I wish you well and say cheerio x

I’m probably the most guilty for stopping posting but having honestly fallen out of interest in football after 50 odd years, I find I have little to contribute. It’s been a great little forum over the years though with a great group of fans contributing and it’s been a pleasure to be involved.

Some I’ve met and some I haven’t but it felt like a small community which has struggled after the sad passing of some big characters over the last few years. I have to say, Animal, you’ve been the backbone of the forum since it began and I know it can be a drain to keep things going at times as I’ve been there in the past and Shadrack you’ve done your best over recent times to keep the forum alive along with Animal and a few others.

So I guess it’s time to lock the door and turn the lights off after all these years. As the caretaker, I’ll keep popping in to make sure there’s no squatters from down the road, but I wish you all health and happiness if we dont interact again.

Speak soon when we’re top of the league next season and there’s some interest again

      Thanks everyone

        Sad to read that Animal.
I left for no other reason than one person. His behaviour encouraged MY bad behaviours. I could no longer post, and sooner or later it was always going to end up with me going too far. ( again). So I left.
I hate the fact that one individual spoiled a once great board.
I dip in and read occasionally, sad that all these names disappeared.
        Apart from one.

I miss terribly the days of giggling over the humour on this board “ gussets, and Dodurth bottoms”….….. and the debate which was always passionate, yet still remained cordial after we all had our say.
        Then it changed.
        To all being about HIM.

        Sad .

        All the best Animal.

I was a member for many years but didn't normally post. When I decided to take the plunge I was met with a wave of disprovel, the reason why is that I was a positive poster and it was frowned upon.In the last few years any poster who showed any kind of positivity was shot down and were lost to the board.
No disrespect to posters who are deseased but they made this forum a clique and if you didn't follow their views you were made un welcome. To you Animal you were the only reason I logged on and that was to do the prediction league. As a moderator I found you to always be a very negative poster and because of your anti BFC stance it was hard to engage with you and I believe thats why this board is dying on its backside. No humour no acceptence of any thing positive and up lifting. In my humble opinon the death of this board has been self inflicted.Good luck to everybody moving forward."Once a red always a red."

Crikey, you?re a right miserable lot aren?t you? I know the clubs struggling at the moment and interest is probably low after the last few years but come on guys, boards are for comments and that obviously includes disagreements. There are always odd jobs on every clubs hoards who think they know more than everyone else or talk down to people but you just ignore them and don?t respond. As a Bolton fan I dip in here because I live here and am obviously interested in what?s happening to the Tykes. I have friends who support Barnsley and we like discussing what?s happening with each other. Maybe it?s just a sign of the times that boards lose posters, some of our boards are the same but it would be a shame if you all disappeared because you all seemed just what this board needed. It?s sad to hear that some posters have passed but again that happens and hopefully new members will replace them over time so come on chaps, don?t give up, you?ll always be Reds fans and continue to have views so keep sharing them here and don?t give up. This could turn out a good season for you so upwards and onwards to you.
