I was shocked to read this news yesterday, although I knew that he was unwell and I had been discussing that with a few musicians at a gig on Sunday night.
Smashing musician who was always willing to help other musicians in whatever they were doing. RIP Chris and thanks for all you have done.

I could listen to Stainsby Girls all day, takes me right back. Also reminds me of a good friend of mine from way back, his wife was a bit of a dragon and kept him on a short leash, best he could expect for Christmas or his Birthday was something like B&Q vouchers. Asked him one year what she got him for Xmas and he said she had bought them tickets for a Chris Rea concert in Nottingham, 'Good stuff', I said, 'beats B&Q vouchers doesn't it.' 'Not really', he said, 'I don't like Chris Rea'.
No accounting for taste.

Great musician great entertainer. Very talented performer. Saw him twice here in the Welsh capital over the years, and each show was excellent. Stainsby Girls one of my favourites too, amongst his large collection of great songs. I?ll miss him for sure.

Saw him live on the Shamrock Diaries in 1985 tour at Manchester and then at the NEC during the On The Beach tour the following year.
Fantastic slide guitar solos that raised the hair on the back of my neck. That was back during my Polytechnic years.A proper lad who never liked the celeb lifestyle.Gone way too soon.He was and still is one of my favourite artists.R.I.P. Chris.Last edited by ClaretinBudapest; 23-12-2025, 07:09 PM.
