Operation keep Leeds up is in full swing without doubt.
AR misses a ball almost a yard out of play which should have been an Everton corner.
He then gives a penalty for handball which was just a crazy decision. Referee gave it on the ARs call and wasn't even told by VAR to have alook at it.
Alcaraz gets cynically brought down as he is breaking towards the penalty area, gets booked for waving an imaginary yellow card --correct, however, the Leeds player doesn't even get spoken to.

Result achieved with a Leeds win. Only full game I have watched this weekend and confirms my feelings about PL football.
In fact, I have to admit that I have watched Rugby League and even the bloody Hundred in preference to football.

Another referee deciding the game. Don't know why the players bother turning up sometimes.

VAR gives Everton a bad call and Leeds get three points.

The referee didn't decide it though, it was the AR, who is a FIFA official, who had a stinker tonight ---even the referee's board which I frequent is up in arms about both the non-decision for the corner and the penalty decision.
WHat is the point of having VAR ---I've always hated it ------if it does not intervene for a ridiculous decision like the supposed handball.
Time to chop the players' arms off it would seem.

The frustrating thing is Sub, it was so simple to come to the correct decision. Did Tarkowski attempt to block the shot with his arm ?.............NO, did he make every attempt to keep his arm by his side and out of the way................YES, so no offence committed, get on with the game.

Just what is their problem ?

Completely agree Sub.Did anybody notice we were the only club punished on the new 8 second rule this weekend? So we can expect a few dubious decisions to go against us this season just as they did in 2023-2024.
Weeds tick all the boxes for the PL.Big city club, big stadium and owners with deep pockets.Next will be project Birmingham and Wrexham to add the Yank celebrity bling effect to the PL.You can see it coming.
Worst of all though Sub is that matches are actually boring if you take away all the pathetic hype and marketing. The Championship this weekend was far more entertaining.

Leeds certainly got lucky with the penalty. On another day with a different referee it more than likely wouldn't have been given, that's life, and I certainly don't think that there was anything sinister in it.

Only watched the 2nd half. Both teams were poor, especially Everton who only looked creative via Tarkowski from set pieces. I don't think Grealish is the answer imo he is an overrated showboater

This was the only game I watched completely and, to be honest, I have lost interest in the game at the top level and, sadly, after 73 years involvement as player, official, manager, coach, league administrator, referees' mentor and a few more things I find that I am not enjoying football anywhere near as much as I used to.
I used to go to at least four games per week at various levels, however, I doubt I shall average even one per week this coming season.
Cricket has always been my biggest love so I watch a lot both live and on TV and Rugby League is also a big interest, although I have never played the game or done anything else except watch it.

I do agree about The Championship, CiB, however, I don't watch much of that either now.

I think most of us are reaching saturation point mein freund. I never, ever thought I would say this, but this is probably my last season has a season ticket holder. I hate the constant yo-yoing between the EPL and the Championship and VAR has ruined the EPL for me. Last night was farcical and I firmly believe no matter how well or badly we play we are going down, while two of the favoured big clubs will stay up. Brentford's time is also now up I reckon.

Sadly, I think that you could well be correct. It is VAR more than anything which has killed it for me.
It gets involved or it doesn't get involved and it is never consistent as to when it gets involved. Get rid of it and let the officials decide ---rightly or wrongly as it always was and still is in probably more than 95% of matches played throughout the world.
However, they alter the Laws of the Game to accommodate VAR. Bloody ridiculous.

Not watching any premier league football this season apart from our highlights if we win a game.So won't be watching much,no interest whatsoever in VAR EITHER.
