One of Eddie Howe's shrewdest moves when he advised Newcastle to use the release clause on Chris's contract.
He had only scored 3 goals in the first half of the season, however, that was not an unusual thing for Chris in the PL for us.
2017/18 he scored 6 goals out of 10 in the second half of the season.
2018/19 he scored 8 goals out of 10 in the second half of the season.
2019/20 he scored 7 goals out of 14 in the second half of the season.
2020/21 he scored 9 goals out of 12 in the second half of the season.

When they paid for his release he had scored 3 goals for us which was not unusual and he only scored 2 goals for Newcastle in 16 appearances. However, he was a very good figure in defence for us as well as scoring goals and this wasn't always appreciated by fans.
