They have enough on their plate with Hamas and Hezbollah on their border, so they create a buffer zone close to the border, just in case these 'rebels' with their American weaponry turn out to be just as unfriendly towards Israel as the Iranian proxies. Yes you have. They came on an official visit to this country at the invite of the Labour government led by Tony Blair who was hoping that Assad would turn to the West.
Any official visit involves our Royals hosting the visitors, whether they like them or not.

BT, sorry mein freund, you just don't seem to realise that, as a matter of protocol, they have no choice in whether or not they welcome the person visting at the behest of the government of the day. It is part of being in the position that they are.
If Blair had been President, then it would have just been down to him, however, we have not descended to those depths just yet which is why the State Visit last week had all the same protocols as the visti by the Head of State in Syria some 22 years ago.
