Donald Trump thought he could just order red states to redraw their maps and cut out blue seats and Democrats wouldn’t do anything about it.
He was very, very wrong.
Now his election-steal plot is blowing up before his very eyes. Provided they pass the state Supreme Court, the new maps will give the Virginia Democratic delegation have 10 representatives, and the Republicans will have just one.
This is in addition to the extra seats that Democrats added in California after voters there overwhelmingly voted to approve new maps.
Republicans redrew their maps in six other states — Texas, North Carolina, Missouri, Ohio, Utah – which potentially gives Republicans as many as nine new seats. Those seats have now been nullified!
But with Trump’s approval rating in the dumpster, gas prices in the stratosphere, and public fury over ICE violence, the Iran war, DOGE, Trump’s attacks on our democracy, and the dismantlement over all our public institutions, those new “red seats” could prove to be very purple indeed – especially in heavily Hispanic areas of south Texas, where Republicans may have gotten a bit too big for their britches.
This is a huge first step towards taking back the House and turning Trump into a lame-duck president halfway through his term – but there’s still a lot of work to be done to make that a reality.

So the Southern Poverty Law Centre collected donations to ‘fight racism’ while telling everyone that white supremacist racism was everywhere. Only white supremacist racism isn’t everywhere.
