There's a raft of away games coming up, January 22nd against Mossley is the next possibility.

It's a good job that you guys aren't meeting up today, I have just seen that the game is off because of a waterlogged pitch.

Not surprised at that, the ground is right on the banks of the Irwell, waterlogged is standard, on a dry day it's just heavy.

The Irwell goes right on through Radcliffe. I could have got to the game in my coracle.

They've got huge safety nets on one side of the ground Outwood, to prevent time wasting defenders hoofing the ball into the Irwell, apparently the youth of Radcliffe were having a field day fishing Rammy's balls out of the Irwell and flogging them on Ebay. They've put a stop to that.

In one respect it's a good job the game is off, Chester have recalled our hero Harrison Burke from his loan spell with us, he's destined to go to a club at a higher level next week. It was always going to happen, he's far too good for our level, if they're good enough for two divisions higher, they'll go sooner rather than later, we just can't keep them. At least we've got a week to find a replacement, all we've got at the moment is Buzzer, the youth team lad playing right-back, he can play in the centre in an emergency but he's not a long term solution.

Have we got time for a meet before the season’s end?

At home to Colne next Monday Outwood, but not ideal for meeting up, they were still queuing to get in ten minutes after kick-off on Saturday and there was only just over 1,000 on, be close to 2,000 against Colne, it will be mayhem, every man for himself. April 22nd at home to Kidsgrove might be a better bet, but if the play offs are still on that'll be thronged as well.

On the other hand, I'm taking Mrs S to the game against Northwich 1874 on Saturday on Barnton's ground, that should be relatively peaceful.

Ashington play Redcar at home tonight and I shall be there early because you can get curry or chilli and a pint for a fiver before, during or after the game. My mate and I are partaking before the game so it will be a good night, season ticket was 30 quid for 19 home games!
This will be our 9th league match and we are currently 5th in the table and just 5 points off the top. Biggest problem is that they have not been able to field a settled team up to now because of involvement with cricket by Ben Harmison and another lad. It has meant that they have only lost 1 game but have drawn 4 and won 3. Mind you, there have been 28 goals scored in the 8 matches and there promises to be more tonight!
Still early days yet but it should be a steady season.
Did you go to Ashington v Redcar yesterday Supersub? Redcar are running away with the league this season. I stopped in Redcar many years ago when the British Professioal Darts Finals were being held there.

Posted on sinkov's post about Happy Days but copied here for you outwood

I was at Ashington yesterday and the Redcar supporters were chanting "we want ten" as they hammered the Colliers 8-0. A sad debut for an 18 year old keeper who is on a short term loan from Sunderland and replaced our regular keeper yesterday because the club have received an incentive from Sunderland to play him! He tried to play out grom the back which cost us the first two goals in the first 7 minutes and I am still trying to work out what he was doing with the third goal because he was walkabout in the area with four defenders closing down one attacker! He had not yet trained with the team and the first quarter of an hour was a horrible start. THe sad thing also is that we no longer have a goalkeeping coach because the club got rid of him, along with the manager and his assistant who resigned a couple of weeks ago.
They have scored over 100 goals this season and have a goal difference of 75 and are 10 points ahead of the second place team with 2 games in hand. Very good side who work hard the whole game.

Ashington, on the other hand, are in 19th place and have the same number of points as the two clubs above them and the relegation zone ---sadly our goal difference is now -31 and the worst in the Division.
