At the last count Alf I had about two dozen Mancunian Jewish people on my accounts, all perfectly sociable and civilised until you mentioned Palestine.

Now I'm not daft Alf, I know which side my bread is buttered and I needed a wage so I kept schtum, I am not in any way a Holocaust denier, I do not have any antipathy towards the Jews, but I cannot reconcile myself to accepting how Israel treats the Palestinian Arabs in the West Bank of east Jerusalem and Gaza. I simply cannot.

I understand BT, I cannot reconcile myself to accepting how China treats the Uyghurs in Xinjiang, but when I go into my local Chinese, I do so love their Special Fried Rice with Curry Sauce, and they are such a pleasant couple, that I keep my misgivings to myself, smile and pay up.

The Beano and Desperate Dan are worried about the Israelis slinging rockets at Syria mon ami. The nearest equivalent I can find to the Beano is the Jewish Press and they report IDF missiles fired at Damascus.

                    • Whoopi Goldberg is latest celebrity to fall foul of the topic of Jews and "Race"...

Just to put the record straight, Jews are not a "race" because any non-Jew who converts to Judaism will be recognized as being Jewish by all those rabbis who share a commitment to the same denomination of Judaism as the rabbi who did the conversion. "Jewishness" or being a Jew determines a religious affiliation, not being a member of a "race".

What damage did they cause ? Being Israeli missiles I'm assuming they didn't miss, they must at least have destroyed a school or a hospital, or both.

In fairness sinkov, if you read beyond the headlines they were trying to take out Hezbollah ammunition and storage dumps.

Iran have kicked up a fuss, but Israel really do not give a flying f*ck and Syria know better than to play with Israeli fire.

                          • Oh! BT is being 'fair now', in all honesty. Wow! (he writes , but they were trying? ) I think they took out ,Hezbollah ammunition and storage sites, south of Damascus.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and Lebanon’s Hezbollah have reportedly started construction work to expand two old military bases near the Syrian capital Damascus.

Iran, Hezbollah Expanding Old Military Bases In Syria. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and Lebanon’s Hezbollah have reportedly started construction work to expand two old military bases near the Syrian capital Damascus. According to a report by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) on Sunday, they are turning the compounds into training and operations centres with underground facilities to store drones and weapons.

The alleged airstrikes come hours after a ballistic missile launched by Iran-backed Houthis targeted Abu Dhabi.

The alleged airstrikes come hours after a ballistic missile launched by Iran-backed Houthis targeted Abu Dhabi.
The group is believed to have the SA8 low-altitude, short-range tactical surface-to-air missile system, SA17, and SA22 man-portable air defence missile systems in its arsenal in order to defend against Israeli airstrikes. (All Soviet made missiles )
In October, Israel’s defense establishment said that it had identified growing Iranian efforts to improve its air defenses in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and other locations, in an attempt to disrupt Israel’s “war between the wars” campaign and bring down an Israeli aircraft.

And if you had read even the headlines BT, you would have noted that the rockets were not aimed at the city of Damascus, as you claimed, but the Damascus area. There is a world of difference. Not that propagandists worry about such things.
