  • Club World Cup

Too many games? Too much travelling? Not a bit of it when FiFA bring you the expanded Club World Cup. Just start saving up now so you can go and watch in the USA this coming summer.

The expanded Club World Cup will take place in the United States from 15 June to 13 July.
Previously an annual tournament contested by seven teams, it will now feature 32 clubs and take place once every four years.
"The distribution model of the Fifa Club World Cup reflects the pinnacle of club football," said Fifa president Gianni Infantino.

Enough said. It?s all about the fans isn?t it. Not the money obviously.

When will these eejits realise football is now at saturation point? Players just cannot play to these crackpot game schedules.

Honestly haven't got a clue what the club world cup is and I certainly won't be watching it.

PL clubs whinge about the number of fixtures they play and talk about reducing the size of the PL but then they're quite happy to play in the comps where there is big money, no matter how many games they have to play and treat their own national comps with disdain. Then along comes another money making comp and they embrace it. So nothing surprising there.

I'm like Mr B, I most certainly won't be watching it. No interest in it whatsoever.

It gets even better! Just read this on the Daily Mirror website:

"Premier League clubs have voted in favour of breaking the summer transfer window into two sections this summer in a major change - but it will remain open until after next season begins despite suggestions of an earlier deadline.

The transfer window will open on Sunday 1 June to Tuesday 10 June, due to an exceptional registration period relating to the FIFA Club World Cup. It will then reopen on Monday 16 June and close on Monday 1 September in line with other European leagues."

Premier League Clubs vote and the rest of football does as it is told!

Transfer Windows and VAR, IFAB changes The Laws of the Game to accommodate VAR ----we should hold a lottery to guess what will be the next thing that is introduced to further ruin the game I once loved.

It seems the special early window is so that Chelsea and Man City are free to sign players before the Club World Cup starts on June 15. As if they need extra help. If there is a lottery to guess the next rule change I wouldn’t bank on anyone but the super wealthy clubs winning it.

Name's already etched on the cup Sir Outwood - Real Madrid.

Of course they needed to cut the EPL down to just 20 teams back in 1995 to avoid players at top clubs being asked to play too many games at club and international level. Please note in your diaries the upcoming fixture for June and July UEFA Nations League Finals, UEFA World Cup Qualifiers and then the FIFA Club World Cup. And then of course Manchester United arranged their own post season tour of Malaysia and Hong Kong. What really comes first- fixture burnout or fleecing fans for every last penny?

The answer lies in the bucks Sir Outwood. United flew their players out for a tour of the Far East just FOUR hours after their EPL season ended. MADNESS!

Chelsea also have a full June diary of exhibition games overseas
