Not able to watch the game, but seen the goals. First off it’s good we actually scored goals. Secondly that was a stupid shirt pulling. But has the rules changed in regards of where the fowl starts? I thought if it started outside but continued into the box it would be given as a free kick.

I agree CiB. Why aren’t they honest and just give Man Ewe the points, save the effort.
Anthonety had no need to grab the tw@t’s shirt and that needs sorting, but if there was a foul, it started well outside the area. However, it was “deemed” to continue into the penalty area. F*ing ridiculous.
In the meantime, Foster was onside by an elbow. Accepting that is ridiculous, what about favouring the attacker?
The PL needs to be honest - there are certain teams who can never be relegated. The rest are irrelevant.
Sick of it.

Not to mention no punishment whatsoever to Mason Mount for simulating a penalty. The shirt pulling was outside the box but the forward pulled Anthony into the box and only then conveniently fell over. All VAR does is give the powers that be the opportunity to favour the big clubs.Fosters goal would have been given in any other league in the world.

I agree CiB. The PL is a money machine. Man Ewe etc generate revenue that the likes of Burnley never could. Hence the bias in favour of of the big clubs,Originally posted by ClaretinBudapest View PostIf I was going to comment that is what I would have said Swiss.

If Burnley failed the financial restrictions the decision and the points deduction would follow in five minutes. With City. 115 potential breaches - how long has that been going on and still no decision?
In that context, the super league makes sense. Let the genuine clubs like Burnley fight it out for the scraps off the table.

Hang on
1. We all knew that Utd where going to come out all guns blazing after Grimsby or they may as well sack the manager
2. So why didn't we setup to absorb the pressure for the first 30mins and let them get frustrated. ie with a back 5 counter attacting.
3. 2 goals both our own doing slopy, and poor in defence.
4. Utd should have been 3:0 at half time, we got absosulutly battered the first half.
- Utd are a ****e team that finished 15th last season, have not scored a premiership goal before today and been dumped out of the cup by Grimsby.
we are not living in 1998 with Cantona and Ferguson.
Our lack of quality, dilly dallying on the ball, poor defensive positioning... really crap midfield constantly being second to the ball all equated to the loss.
if it makes you feel better blame the ref, for a pull or the lines man for a close off side.
But Utd are ****e and I bet just like last season, Everton, Brentford, Wolves, Fulham and a lot of the bottom half will take points at Old Trafford and we want these teams to finnish bottom three instead of us.

Wow, that is harsh in the extreme. Players are worth 75 million for a reason. They are simply better, more skilful.Originally posted by FromTheDarkness View PostHang on

Man Ewe’s bench probably cost more than our whole squad.
We played against 13 today - with the ref and VAR favouring Man Ewe. Even BT will acknowledge Foster’s contribution. We were minutes away from a draw, having survived the onslaught from a team playing at home.
If you expect Burnley to play like Real Madrid, away from home, I suggest you “support” another club.

I cannot argue with any of the above FTD and I also felt Cardy got the set up completely wrong in the first half.It was obvious as you said what would happen after the Grimsby game in midweek.
Man U are crap as you say but they have unlimited individual players that ran us ragged for most of the 90 minutes. Our midfield is woeful. We need a strong defensive midfielder before the window closes.Last edited by ClaretinBudapest; 30-08-2025, 05:05 PM.

Oh come on, throw their results up, and that they haven't scored a goal and got beat by Grimsby as a metric.Originally posted by Swissclaret View PostWow, that is harsh in the extreme. Players are worth 75 million for a reason. They are simply better, more skilful.

Was Antony (82mil) Sancho (73mil) and Hajland (64mil +8mil addons) a excuses last season if they beat someone?
They cant give these players away, so comparing a paper value everytime we get beat is very low IQ
Our board is choosing to buy sicknotes for 30mil and promise players for 20mil instead of expericnaced high tier players.

I feel we really miss experience in these hostile grounds with massive home support. First 15mins they where like rabbits in a headlight.
We need Roberts back asap, we need more players with nouce and understanding..
the second goal 2 mins after we score highlighted this.. kill the game. slow it down.. it was very chaotic and lacked any control and composure.
But I fear we are treating this game like we have just played a top 6 team, and we haven't!

All well and good, however, we are skint and the debt is getting bigger by the week. The last ime I looked we were a mere ?112 million in debt and that will have grown by now.Originally posted by FromTheDarkness View PostOh come on, throw their results up, and that they haven't scored a goal and got beat by Grimsby as a metric.

That is why we are limited to who we can buy. Experienced, high tier players are not in our bracket and they also will not play for peanuts. All this is before any Financial Fair Play rears its ugly head because it is bubbling away just under the surface.

IN EPL terms that amount is peanuts and Pace knows it.Originally posted by Supersub6 View PostAll well and good, however, we are skint and the debt is getting bigger by the week. The last ime I looked we were a mere ?112 million in debt and that will have grown by now.

I have no problem with your opinions FtD but I suspect that I could wipe the floor with your IQ. Let?s keep it respectful.Originally posted by FromTheDarkness View PostOh come on, throw their results up, and that they haven't scored a goal and got beat by Grimsby as a metric.

It is patently obvious that we far destined to play teams that have superior players to us. To think otherwise, quite honestly, is naive. In my opinion we gave a good showing of ourselves and, whilst we rode our luck at times, could have got a point but for a bogus penalty decision.
You are quite welcome to disagree and express your point of view. That is what a forum like this is for.
