  • Wow thats bizarre.

About 1970 there was an eastern counties league game on a sunday, so i went on my bike to Histon. Histons ground back then was railings around the pitch and a small hut that seemed to be a very small stand. Today you could have football league games there, its huge. The attendance was in double figures.

They were playing Braintree, both clubs were eternal strugglers battling against relegation constantly, god knows what the Braintree ground was like they were smaller than Histon.

Fast forward to today, next week its Carlisle v Braintree, amazing in my mind,, having said that im easily amazed, its not a local derby is it.

The path of both clubs led to this, in Carlisles case its very sad, in Braintrees case it is amazing.

Its also the vast tapestry of chance, that this can happen, that during the game, the es*** accent will chime. Mad. Carlisle should be in div 1, not here.

A lot of wise words there Frank, the football gods are fickle mistresses and none of us know who we'll be playing in a couple of seasons. The trick is to enjoy what you've got.

Indeed, its not the outer world that counts, its the inner.

What's even more bizarre is Truro being in the same league as Carlisle, Hartlepool,Southend or Scunthorpe,I bet that you never look a bike ride down there as a lad Frank
