I dare not use the word as I get blasted every time I do...

Its Coaching and Management in Football..

We beat Grimsby and we are all elated including me....Dave Artell just in my opinion gave his players a right old you place your own adjective there...Mine could start with F...

He said after the game that he used words to his team that could not be repeated on the media etc..

Tonight Grimsby lost 5-0 to Brentford who made 9 changes to their team tonight and so what happened..

These are my thoughts and you can shoot me down, fine if you want to..

But I think DA pissed off his players by being downright obnoxious and rude to them and they basically said without speaking F**K you too Dave, go and put your boots on and see if you can play any better....Result....Lost 5-0, when they beat ManU and Bolton was sit in previous rounds and were heros and so you explain to me why they lost so heavily? Someone here said their bench on Sat was full of coaches..

Now to our team who won the first four games and then we know what happened and we know what happened on Saturday.

My personal opinion because it happened to me when I was playing football to a good standard imo and the manager said something to me that upset me before the game and I dd not try to play decently and just ran around until the end of the game which we lost...

I think the problem is managers and coaches and fans have said the same thing here...What heppened to our team after those four games...I think the coaches and managers started to tell the players HOW to play this game when they don't need telling and imo they should all be got rid off now and save the club tens of thousands of pounds in the process. That young lad ET who scored three goals doesn't need any coaching as he KNEW how to score and what position on the pitch he needed to be and the supporting players KNEW how to pass the ball to him and I know fans here get fed up with my mantra about coaching but I can say that ALL clubs including ours do not need all these hangers on They were never needed for over 100 years and so why do we need them now when professional players and even amateur players really do know how to play football. In fact some very old professionals think coaches are detrimental to the performance of the players and why I think clubs like ours should have spokes people to discuss things like this as Luckour has said there are far too many fans just content to have things the way they are. I was a professional engineer for 50 years and my job was always to examine and contribute to improving things. I'm not sure Chairman and Directors know the first thing about football but I can tell them, the answer is very simple...Have one manager and sack the rest even though t ay cost a load of money...

I think all our team needs to do this week is to keep fit and keep away from the coaches and managers..

I was going to add that if you have a load of coaches and managers then they have to have their say on what the players should do the whole time and I can say that players really do not need their input and we did have some players here over the years that fell out with the managers and coaches during the match as they got pissed off with being told this or that. They really could do without all this bull**** folks. Allow the players to play the game and to enjoy the game and see what difference that would make. Of course clubs need one manager not to coach the players but to select the team and to come up with the strategy to win the game. Nothing else matters and so why do we need an assistant manager and an assistant assistant manager and all the hangers on who get good money and offer next to nothing.

I used to see some old films feature films when the players used to lose every game and the manager did not know what to do and so they employed a Physcologist and that is the wrong spelling but someone to instill belief in the players and to go out and win the game etc etc. I think we went on a bad run here based on lack of belief and being over coached. I could well be wrong but please, you tell me what went wrong?

Few will remember someone called Alan Devonshire who played for West Ham in the eighties etc..He became one of the best players around at the time.

I've tried to explain about the academy system and this is what AD says in the Daily Telegraph today..

‘Academy players are more like robots’
Which brings us on to the academy system. Fair to say, Devonshire is not a fan. “I don’t like it at all. They’re more like robots now. They’re telling them how to pass the ball,” he says. “I’ve never been coached. No one’s ever told me to do this and do that. All John ever said to me was ‘what you see, you see, and you play. All I say to you, you’re playing on the right, on the left, just drop in when we haven’t got the ball’. That was all he ever said.

“This ‘pattern of play’ now, it’s more like a chess match than a football match. I’m pleased now that the long throws are coming back, it’s part of the game. I love to see people dribble. They don’t dribble any more. I used to get the ball wide and my first thought was to carry the ball 50 yards up the pitch, going past people. I see people on the edge of the box and they pass the ball back. It infuriates me. It’s more possession-based now. But the quicker you can get it from A to B, the quicker you score.

“We were very direct at West Ham. I’d never pass the ball back unless I had to. I’d be putting balls down channels for the forwards to run on to, getting crosses in for them to score. I’m not giving the ball back to a full-back or a centre-back and I don’t see it for another 10 minutes.

And some fans think wecould not do without the academy system now and players are better than they used to be which is a load of tosh...imo..

Great players have never liked the academy system and never will...
