  • Youth Cup

I see that last night we bowed out of the Youth Cup to Halifax at the Mornflake. Apparently a bit like the first team on Saturday we did everything but put the ball in the net. My gripe is that I watched the previous round and really enjoyed it. Re. last nights match I'm really disappointed but not surprised that there was no preview on the official website or App yesterday as a reminder to supporters to attend. I certainly would have been there. Extremely poor communication or lack of. Rant over.

Totally agree. Typical attitude from the administration. Personally I was aware the natch was last night, but being a bit under the weather could not attend. Took the alternative to follow game on Facebook but as usual cover was absoluely useless. Time the Club replaced the idiot responsible. Not good enough.

Very disappoining losing to a small club like Halifax.

Very disappointing, yes. That?s because we totally outplayed them for 90 minutes. They had 1 shot on target, a dubious penalty for handball.
From memory, I can?t recall them even having a shot off target. Our keeper didn?t have a save to make all game. Their keeper pulled off a couple of blinders. The ball just wouldn?t fall for us in the box.
All the team were very good, but special mention to the two wingers, Pinder and Roberts, with the centre forward Swan, not far behind.
They celebrated like they had won the World Cup.

Well, all or most of you here celebrate we have an academy and coaching and training and God knows everything and yet we cannot score one goal in one and a half hours of football against a second rate team.

Solution, close the academy and bring back FIVE bloody forwards and maybe just maybe we can score a goal!

First of all MSB I suspect that I am of a similar age to you and like yourself played amateur football to what I consider a reasonably high standard for context.
I take pride in the academy and who it produces and regard it as part of the whole package of Crewe Alexandra.
In all my time watching the Alex, be it the first team, reserves or youth team I don't think that I have ever seen five out and out forwards start a game for us or the opposition, the last few minutes of a game maybe, to try and save a game. If this worked I'm sure that another genius would have thought of it before now.
Regarding the missed game the other night as I said I was really disappointed not to be there. I have witnessed many entertaining games over the years, and much to your liking I'm sure, it is free entry. I presume you have done your homework on Halifax's youth set up to call them a "second rate team".
