Well...another player out for an extended period as Lunt is the latest to disappear into the black hole. Nobody coming in to make up the numbers (possibilities for returns against Tranmere according to management but how many times have we heard that?)
We have to hope that Swindon are not in the same form as they were at Gresty Road earlier in the season. However, I'm filled with a sense of doom after Tuesday. For any chance against Swindon, we need a credibly solid midfield. Well we saw LBs attitude towards midfield players on Tuesday night. I can't see us getting anything out of this.
    A 3-0 loss.

I read the posts and have a laugh myself!

95 minutes playing with 15 players and not one direct shot on goal and most of you think this modern game is better than the old days when players could play on quagmires the whole time and hardly got injured and now we have players that have a job to play 90 odd minutes on lush grass?

Not just that, the management team changes a winning team and leaves the players on the bench instead of playing his BEST team and then changing them further into the match, otherwise you play worse players and you cannot get going. A military commander would not start a battle with half his squad not up to scratch would he..

As I keep saying, todays managers haven't a clue about how this game should be played and having one striker and 5 defenders at the back including the GK shows they have really lost the plot and the stats prove it..

Putting on 4 strikers shows they have no idea how to play as all they do in practise at a million quid a time is how NOT to pass the ball...

I would agree on the 3-0 loss, glad it?s on Sky because I can?t see it being worth the trip. The squad is exhausted anyway but after a midweek game (where they showed how tired they were) I can?t see them being able to get themselves up for it. And they would have to be at their best to win. Not being critical of the players, I just cant see how we will compete tomorrow in the circumstances.

I asked for that by presenting the cue on another thread but I wish I hadn't. More comebacks than Frank Sinatra.

Oh dear! Back to thin times on the bench. Taylor makes his first appearance. So youth in abundance ...Taylor, Moore, Dancey plus Booth, Bogle and... Finney.

Again, no Moult or Rankine. Obviously 2 unwanted salaries being paid out.

https://youtu.be/40Oi1U0WdWA?si=-Z3CmogEQEK3nVbY This can't be correct surely, to save time the teams are in alphabetical order.

Surely not Me For Crewe. Over 200k a year for someone who has barely featured. And we?ve got him for another year yet!

On Gazan?s point, agree weak bench. I wish we would give Moore a lot more time on the pitch, looked good when he has come on so hopefully that will happen today.

Well at half-time, I have to say who is this team in blue? Without having a shot on target before the goal, the Alex actually played football and were the better team. Will it last? Will Bell lose his nerve and try to defend? Hope not.

You have to point the finger at the Swindon.management for making their extra substitution while defending a corner. Their defenders were clearly not set up for it

Yes that was a poor idea from them in hindsight. I?m very pleasantly surprised by the result. I think we maybe played them on the right day, first 60mins or so were ours, but when they tried to get back into it we had to weather that and did so well. Really important result so we must now win the ?easy? ones we expect to win. It will take two to three weeks before all of these games in hand are played by others so we can see where we are.

We weren't expected to get a result but 3 points away at Swindon is an incredible result, up to 6th in the table, the big disappointment is O'Reilly going off, the injury room is filling up, but Thomas is supposed to be fit for Tranmere and Lankaster is back in training full time so he should be available for Bristol Rovers, Sanders and Tezgel are not far behind, but enjoy the result the Alex are back.

Well, what a performance. I'm so happy to see my prediction being so far off the mark. After some of the 'hardworking' performances, it was so good to see some of the football they produced. Powell had a really good game. He's clearly practised his dead ball kicks since Tuesday. Thibaut is growing into his role. Holicek showed up a bit more and was very calm with his finish. Connolly seemed to enjoy himself a bit more with the 'bloodied warrior' image.
I know a lot of people are ecstatic about Lawlor's save near the end but, to my mind, he should have been coming for the original cross, not to mention the cross for the goal scored from a couple of yards out.
Overall a pleasing, if somewhat surprising, performance/result.
Tranmere at home next Saturday. Will we see a similar performance?

I thought Holicek was very good again, Powell's best game for us in a long time and the much maligned Connolly had a good game. In fact, Pond was the one who looked to be struggling a bit. A good performance all round by the team and managed to chisel out a result that few of us expected. March works tirelessly and Thibaut looked good again. A lovely ball to set Holicek up for the opening goal. We were the better side for an hour and then when they scored we were on the back foot a bit but mainly because they were pressing to equalise. Fortunately the defence held firm.
