  • Chesterfield paint pot

Great result tonight in this low prestige competition. Not sure how many changes Chesterfield made but the Alex made 10 with Powell given a chance to redeem himself after Saturday's dismal performance. Chesterfield didn't look a young team so have to assume a number of them first teamers.
Whatever, even if it was the reserve team, our reserve team thrashed them. The stats from the game don't anything like the one sided nature of the game. The Spireites certainly had much more possession. The Alex though were direct. Not hoof ball but measured pass and move and precise longer balls into a space. Tezgel showed he can score, given the opportunity and although none of his goals were tap ins, they were all well set up for him. The picks of all the goals were those by Moult and Armstrong. Moult's bullet header arriving in the box to meet a cross of perfection from Luca Moore. Armstrong received the ball out wide from O'Reilly and jinked inside to reach the edge of the box, the crowd shouted "shoot" and he did. A wicked curler into far corner giving the flailing goalkeeper no chance. Thibaut got on to the scoring chart by earning a penalty through his usual dogged approach. He finally succumbed to the 3rd foul challenge as he fought his way through their defence. I did wonder who would take it. Happy to see Adrien step up despite the short run up and despatch it cleanly into the goalkeepers right hand bottom corner.
The Alex played keep ball for the last 15 minutes. As usual this caused as many problems at the back as the Chesterfield forwards did all game.
I went to this game a little grudgingly. I'll definitely go to the next one.

Thanks for that report and shows possibly we have some good players and its up to LB to motivate them like last night. He has a problem now in who to select on Saturday and just to add that for you to travel in from Stockport area for such a low key comp was excellent and shows your dedication to the team. Well done!

Thanks for the report - like many I boycotted the comp/game, and frankly didn't expect much from it, and watched in amazement on BBC live text as we got a lot - especially from Tezgel and the young pros. Wow!
